My wife and our friend play the lotto at home in Florida and we have saved some of the meager winnings. We never discuss how much the tickets cost, so now they have voted that i can take 200.00 in five 40.00 envelopes and see what I can do.
I can play each envelope separately so if get lucky, maybe one or two of the envelopes will make us some extra Christmas money.
My thought is that I have the best chance with VP but I must admit that Ahigh has me thinking about trying craps.
My question is how do I find a decent VP game at Southpoint and what does Full pay mean?
I will be working on a house down near The M so i can stop there also.
Let me know what you think.

Southpoint is better than M for video poker overall.
Quote: djatcSouth Point has a great cashback system (0.30%) and you can play NSUD at 99.73% for a super slight edge all day. I think this month they have a gas card which is an effective 2x point day all month, but since you won't be there that long I suggest learning what you can on NSUD and hammering it out.
Yeah, definitely one of the better choices for overall play, especially if he can get on the 50-play since he only has $40/day to play with? Is there a min bet on the 50-plays there?
As for myself, I know I would be degening on the 8/5 Bonus with Double STP there (99.67%). Doubt that's smart with $40/day though. I played the 7/5 Bonus version of this game briefly yesterday, and blew about that much in less than 15 minutes playing one line quarters and was $75 in the hole at one point on it...lol

1 play at a 5c machine is 25c per pull, although 200 might not be enough to last for a while.... VP machines sure do distort the amount of money I had. I lasted about 10 minutes on a FPDW machine with $100 once. I was wondering what the hell just happened.

Right, but no min bet requirement like $2.50 a round? I hate machines that force you to do that.

I have no idea at South Point, but at the Palms I saw people hitting and running a 50 play machine for 1 hand. Quick tip: If you start playing above 2c on that machine the paytables change for the worst! 9/6 jacks become 8/5 jacks.
As far as your bankroll goes OP, I would stick to nickels. That'll cover 800 bets, which should last you way longer then 160 bets on quarters.
Another thing is how accurately you can play. If you're not up to par then you're losing more then you think you are under perfect play.
No matter what you choose... it will be a better deal for you than a lottery ticket where the house edge is sixty percent or even higher but craps, Video Poker, Black Jack or just about anything will be well below five percent house edge.
If your wife is coming with you, she will prefer the M resort (for its Spa, food and booze).
If its just you... it will be a toss up ... so toss the coin and be done with worrying about it. I'm concerned that if you don't know the terminology of Video Poker you may not know optimal strategy either so shopping for these fine offerings on the machines might be meaningless for you. If you don't know how to take advantage of the VP machine, don't play it. Same rule for Craps, BJ, or anything else.
Learn to play a good fair game and give yourself (and the money in the envelope) a fair chance. Being in a Video Poker paradise such as Southpoint is great, but its much more fun if you know what you are doing. Craps there is 2x odds... its much better at the M.
BJ is probably better at the M too, but not by much. Different atmosphere though. Nicer waitresses too.
Remember, any casino in Vegas at almost any game in the place offers you a better CHANCE than the lottery does, but its just that: a chance. No guarantees of anything. House edge on the lottery atleast sixty percent. At craps about 1.2 percent. On the Odds bet at craps: No house edge and no player edge at all. Perfectly fair game. Ain't no lottery nowhere that will do that for you!
Good luck.
To answer a few questions.
The trip is mostly work. I do computerized lighting control but the boss needs me to finish a home he bought afew years ago. So i will be cleaning and painting and whatever else!
My wife wont be coming but someday I hpoe to bring her out and stay on the strip.
I will use the lotto money on VP likely 8/5 BP. I was out there last year and diid OK but that was before really studying this site. Also I did get the Wizard's VP iphone app.
I may dig into my own pocket for craps , but that will have to be our secret. I have done ok on an iphone craps app but i suspect the real world is not like that!!!
I usually place 6 and 8 for 30 eacb and sometimes buy the 4 and 10 for 20 each.
Of course it is easy to win with fake money. I doubt I will have the courage with my own money.

FYI, using this while in the casino is technically illegal, so be careful if you do.

Indeed; just like to reiterate that bit about it giving a better CHANCE. Just because there's no edge on odds doesn't mean that you're likely to win-- variance can just as easily smack you over the head on what you think is a good, safe bet.
I've (temporarily...) sworn off craps because it's so easy to bet over your bankroll on it.
