This makes 7 royals for me in my last 3 trips! I've been incredibly lucky.
It took me awhile to find the FPDW at Sam's too. It's across from the buffet. There are signs publicizing it paying back > 100% near the bank as well.
Edit: realized you were looking for them at Red Rock. I thought they were near the front entrance. But I didn't actually play them because I wanted to play dream card spin poker instead. Better that you ended up playing 5 play anyway it looks like.

Ya, I don't regret not finding the FPDW!
A previous player left about $60 in equity on this machine. I put a $31 voucher in, got lucky and won $1,560.00.
Nice hit, but not even close to my best Ultimate X wonging jackpot.
I was at a café and just stuck $5.00 playing Jokers (awful paytable) for nickels because I was in the mood for a cappuccino, I ran it up to $10, said, "Hell with it," and switched to quarters. It hit only a few hands into playing quarters, trying to play down to a multiple of 100 credits (or up) I also hit a Wild Royal.
Quote: Mission146I finally got it in Diamonds. $1,000. I plan to post the picture later.

See - they do exist!
Sure feels nice when you finally hit one.

I wish!
J-10-A-Q-K...I have got to get the picture up later, still, just waiting to have time.

Isn't that the truth! The $1,000 is always helpful, of course, but really is secondary to finally hitting that Royal.
At least I can sit down at a VP game now and not lament every single missed draw knowing sooner-or-later it will happen again. You really start to question whether or not you'll ever hit that Royal until you finally do. I think it was probably the eighth greatest day of my life, actually, that's still technically today for nine more minutes.

Yep, something happens when you get the first one ... primes the pump!
Congratulations! Where's that pic?

I wish it was a $5 game, or at least $1, not 5c.

Is AcKc the correct hold there when playing the actual game itself? Because of the 5x multiplier for a flush?
gwae, no w-2g too!
It's always the right hold if you get it ;).Quote: rudeboyoiIs AcKc the correct hold there when playing the actual game itself? Because of the 5x multiplier for a flush?
Quote: strictlyAPwhy would it lock up on mine? it was a 1k payout
Casinos can set the lockup at any amount they want. it doesn't have to be taxable for a lockup. I have seen smaller casinos set it at $400 so that they know when someone is hitting.
Quote: GWAE5th royal that I have received after 200k hands of no royals. I stopped keep track of my hands so I have no idea if I am over or under royaled. My guess is I am still under.
Yeah you're still under, but definitely a lot closer than you were. Average is about 1 in 40,000. I wish I could experience average. Going on 21 months now, bah. But playing a quick quads machine and not playing quick quads? Blasphemy!
Quote: GWAEIn Pittsburgh I have won exactly $1000 7 times and all but 1 time it locked up, which was yesterday.
Maybe they realized it was a waste of time for it to lock up at 1000 and they recently changed the settings.

I doubt it since you'll only make a flush about 1% of the time. But I could be wrong. Deuces is the only game JB never put the strategy out for. I personally wouldn't have held AK suited
Nice hits everyone!

I knew you would be the one to catch that. I actually have a good reason. I like to bounce between job, bonus, and ddb. The pay table on the qq is better on the DDB than it is on a stand alone.
If it makes you feel any better I also bounce between the qq as well. I won't bore you with my playing strategy but it involves switching between using buttons, the screen, different games, and the speed setting. It's not that I feel it changes anything but it keeps me paying attention and not getting bored over 2 hours of play.

You get bored over 2 hours?! I can only play one way: max speed, buttons, same game.

I agree. Playing on a slow speed is torture to me. The only time I slow down the game is on 50/100 play when I am dealt 4 to the royal I turn off the turbo button. I know it is silly, but I do like to watch those hands come in.

Help me understand something. If it stands to reason that the player is more likely to play with (and lose back) credits that are already in the machine than they are to rebuy, wouldn't the casino want to do as few handpays as they can legally get away with? For comparison, a $100 bonus on a table game is more likely to get paid with twenty red chips than one black chip, since the player is more likely to play with the red chips.

That is very true. With me having 4000 credits I took a $100 shot at $1 JOB, if there was a hand pay I would not have put that in there.

Bored was a bad choice of words. I just like to give myself variety. Besides I am playing games that are not the best pay tables so slowing myself down a little makes my money last a little longer.

There are a few reasons that casinos might do this.
It can help them identify players that are winning and then they can give them some personal attention (ie. A host introduction, maybe give them a food comp so they stick around).
It may help them to identify cheaters or malfunctioning machines. In the old days if someone was cheating or the machine had a problem the attendants would notice because they would have to keep replenishing the coins in the hopper.
And let's not forget superstition. If you machine is hot and paying you some jackpots, it would be good to slow the player down until the machine cools off.
Personally, i always set them at the $1200 taxable limit.
