I would imagine you have to be careful
with that ploy. Money is like catnip to
women, once they think you have it
they could be hard to get rid of. I knew
a woman who chased a guy for 10 years
because his family was rich, never gave
up till he finally died at 40. She even
faked 3 pregnancies and it didn't work.

He was rich and insecure, so he was addicted
to prescription drugs, Vicodin mostly, and it
messed up his liver. The woman was incredibly
hot, and he would give into her at times. Mostly
he avoided her. She's gone now too from, get
ready, pill addictions! She started mixing Valium
with whiskey, a big no-no, and she fell down
her stairs at home and died the next day.

I've heard there are crazy men, but I've
only ever seen crazy women. Especially
when I was in the bar biz, don't get me
started. Go back to the mental institutions
of the late 1800's in the UK and the US, and
90% of the inmates were women. Divorce
was frowned on, so a husband would have
his insane wife committed.

I'd suggest you work on the quality of people you associate with. I'm in Vegas just under two years.( May 10 will be 2 years).
I'm sure there are hundreds, if not thousands, of scammers and scummy people here. Somehow I have not met any, or if I have it was a conversation that was both short and forgettable. That isn't by accident. I've met some great people here, and some I can tolerate in small doses. Had one ,now banned, member over to my clubhouse so he could lay out a vision he felt I'd be interested in. It seemed pie in the sky and all he had to prove' his success were a couple of high level players club cards and the fact he drove a year old Mercedes. He got angry that I questioned him and accused me of wasting his time.
I was worried what he might write here about it, but when he wrote nothing I began to see why.
Shit happens to everyone. It's what you do next after being knocked down and covered in it that determines one's true quality.
Quote: billryanI'd suggest you work on the quality of people you associate with.
If you're in business, which I was, you
cannot choose who the other people
are that are in the same business as
you. You're stuck with dealing with them.
You obviously have a pie in the sky attitude
about real life, good luck with that.

Yes, working in the bar/ nightclub business for almost 15 years kept me from encountering those sorts. You meet nothing but the finest people in a dive bar, especially mid morning or early afternoons.
Quote: billryanYes, working in the bar/ nightclub business for almost 15 years
Then why do you post nonsense like this:
"I'd suggest you work on the quality of people you associate with."
Like we get to choose who our associates
are in business. I had to deal with hundreds
of people I didn't like for over 20 years, I
had no choice. They were what they were.
Some people get it. Some don't . I think the jury is in on which is which.
You choose to hang around with drug addicts and whores and are somehow surprised by the negative outcomes?

Yeah, so what. Where did I ever say or
give the impression that I am friends
with or hang out with people I do business
with. I can't even stand most of them.
I'm done with this, talk to yourself, which
you seem to be doing anyway.

Been hearing about my downfall for a decade now from everyone, but somehow my bankroll just keeps going higher, i have no debt, car is paid off, never had a credit card, never got a handout from anyone, i dont drink, i dont do drugs, no crimes, clean record, bachelors in business, etc. Meanwhile... everyone else in my age group is suffering, but 'IM THE ONE WHO'S WRONG' LOL.
I think it's time to cut your losses people and listen to the advice I give out. The advice isn't all about money either because most adults 40-60 age group dont even understand this either. They work their whole life chasing 'the dream', 'chasing retirement' only to get to retirement and realize it's all an illusion. You can only go to the beach so many times and lay in the sun. They wasted their whole life doing something they hate only to get to the illusion of retirement that they also hate.
Glad I'm too smart for society's traps. Damn im good.

Your def wrong about not having a relationship. At least in general. I have lots of great memories. Like a trip to new york with my beautiful, fun gf when i was like 21.
That's in general. Obv some guys here don't like women or don't know how to deal with them or with people in general.
They end up old, alone listening to people on the radio voice their anger.
Not saying you should move in w a girl and open a joint banking account. But don't hide from relationships for fear of not coming out ahead.
If you can't have normal, healthy relationships that you'll look back on happily, guess what the problem is.
Quote: billryanMy gardener made more money than ZK last year. Heck, a dishwasher at Coco's made more money. But keep talking about those East Coast glory days where you scored five touchdowns and made oodles of money.
Only Al Bundy can score 5 touchdowns. Go Polk High!

Well, let me also be clear, im NOT against finding someone you truly love or against relationships in general. I'm not a 'player' or try to play one on some forum. I'm actually FOR finding the 'one', the problem is that women these days, especially american girls are so shallow, manipulative, and love to play games and that you need to be aware of what's really going on, thats all. There's a lot of good women out there, but it's still a game and if you show weakness or let a girl walk all over you in the relationship, it's bound to fall. That's the point I really wanted to make. If you can find someone where both of you don't play games, are honest with each other, and just 'click', i agree it could be something special.
Also when you look at the vast amount of divorce rates and then take a look at the animal kingdom in general, these animals don't care about 'cheating' on their partner, but society has brainwashed us to think it's a bad thing. These male animals, if they come across another female, they won't hesitate to do the deed and the female won't oblige either. I'm not FOR cheating on your partner, but just illustrating some additional ideas of why divorce numbers might continue to outweigh the successful relationships.

Any trip where you don’t lose money, get comp or discounted rooms, eat some free food and drinks, and not get arrested is EV+ in my book.

I knew someone would post that stat and I knew what my reply would be.
Bad sampling. The kind of men who get married are much more likely to be more fit and attractive and socially capable than the sample of men who do not get married.
I believe single people have higher mortality than married people because of selection bias and because later in life it is good to have a caretaker

I hear ya. My friend did his due diligence to find out if she was a scammer or not. She was from a visiting tourist from the Midwest, and was staying at the Circus Circus. She totally thought our hotel was “Luxurious.” We had a hell of a time trying to shake her off without being mean or upfront. My friend ended up telling her to go back to the hotel to get some rest and a change of clothes to meet later that night. He paid for her cab and blocked her number as soon as she left. I guess it’s regional because the said girl thought my friend was rich even with a 5-figure atm receipt.

They think that because none of the men
they deal with have two quarters to rub
together. Also, when you see a balance
of $40K, who assumes that is the persons
entire net worth? NOBODY! You always
think it's the tip of the iceberg, because
it usually is.
In the late 80's and early 90's I had 6
banks I had accounts with. That all
changed after 9/11. Now I have none.

I'd agree with you on this with most people. However, having been there and having heard some of her conversations, I'm going to assume terminologies like 401K, roth, mutual funds, and retirement portfolios were greek to her. I honestly think she probably thought people kept all their liquid assets in their checking account. You have to think like a person who live paycheck to paycheck.

FDIC insures to $250K. Why wouldn't you want to put it in banks, or multiple banks? Do you keep your money in a shoebox?

It's somewhere in this thread. Sorry, I'm not gonna hunt it down. Too many pages here. But I feel like it was posted by rxwine, keenone, or darkoz, if memory serves.
Quote: SiegfriedRoyFDIC insures to $250K. Why wouldn't you want to put it in banks, or multiple banks?
Because banks totally changed after 9/11. I
used to take 30 out of state checks from
Ebay sales in 1999 and my bank would give
me cash for them, on the spot.
Try that now. You can't even get cash for a
check from the bank across the street,
It has to be deposited and clear before
you get the money. Screw that.
I had an assistant manager I knew before
9/11 and after. He would tell me I had no
idea how tight things got. Now they want
to know everything about you and where
you get your money from. The smallest
little suspicion of a whiff of an inproprioty
and you get put on a list of people to
watch. It got so bad he got out of the
business.
There are lots of other ways to deal with
money now that don't involve bank
accounts, that are almost as good.

I was waiting for someone to say this.
I'd assume someone with enough to buy a house sitting in a checking account is pretty rich too.
Even 5 figures is way ahead of most people and means you got some money to spend. If you got 70k sitting in your checking account you can certainly take her to nice restaurants and on trips.

Forgive me if I'm mistaken but aren't you the guy who claimed your doctor wouldn't see you unless you filled out a form about if you had guns in your house?
I've been selling comics through the mail since 1975 and out of state checks were always a problem. My bank used to release $50 that day, $100 a couple days later and hold the rest for up to ten days. If anything, the process has been greatly streamlined, not at all as you describe.
Now I mostly use paypal so no checks involved at all.
I truly feel bad for the horrible situations you seem to constantly find yourself in. If it seems I can't relate, it's because things on my world simply are better than yours, I guess.

Then you had a suck ass bank. My bank,
before 9/11, would cash as many out
of state checks as I wanted. If you had
problems it's because the state you
live in had backward banking practices.
What looks 'streamlined' to you is just
that your backward banking practices
finally caught up to the rest of the country.
Streamlined to me meant get the hell
out and manage my money without
a bank account. Much easier to do than

Yes, New York State banking laws are out of touch with the rest of the country. Or perhaps not.
I usually put in enough money to pay my credit card bill every month, so I rarely go over $1k. That's 6 digits tho (including the cents after the dollar)
Quote: rdw4potusIs your account balance really less than the check value? If not, just deposit the check and withdraw funds separately. Most banks will wash that as one transaction (check in, cash out). I've personally done that at big red and US Bank this week with no issues.
All that does is put a hold on the funds you have in there until the check clears. An out of state check over $500 or $1000 used to take up to 30 days to fully clear.
Now it doesn't. Many business's in the 80s and 90s survived on "floating" checks. The time between the check was written and when it would clear your bank. That is no longer possible.
