Spent the weekend at 2 different family reunions (one of them I was the oldest person there). Then spent two nights at Rising Star Casino in southern Indiana. Wrote a report about it. It's at https://hubpages.com/travel/Traveling-Around-Couple-Days-At-Rising-Star-Southern-Indiana

Family beer and wine in East Dubuque Illinois

Good booze, often certificates for local distillery tours.

Video poker and electronic roulette with free popcorn etc.

Nice report ! If we are in that area, we like going to Belterra. I think it is a solid 4+ star hotel. BT has some sort of loose affiliation with M-Life properties in Vegas.

We also love the Riverboat Museum in Vevay, definitely worth checking out.

Belterra is deceiving, it looks nice on the outside with a big hotel and the food and shopping areas are ok,then the casino is a small and dark smoke filled dump.
Happy days are here again

Well, it is a Riverboat, so they do what they can. Unfortunately, smoking inside is allowed in Indiana. It isn't up in Cinci. There is one small smoke-free area with Slot machines and a few VP machines.

It's been quite a while since we've been to Belterra but I do remember the entrance as big and spacious. Seems like we had to make our way downstairs to get to the video poker that my brother wanted to play. I agree in that my memory says it wasn't too large.

Looked it up. East Dubuque is 450 miles. That's a pretty good one day move for an old couple like us.

Thanks for the suggestion.

Well if I recall correctly, about $ 99 to $ 139 for weekdays to weekends (or higher). But I think free rooms are pretty easy to get on weekdays once you have played there once or twice.

Super nice hotel, check out the museum in Vevay.
