I think it is more likely ... the incident took place ... immediately outside...

That was what happened, Flea. It all "had just happened" outside the American Express storefront office, according to my brother's recounting the incident.

There! And you all thought Flea was dumb because he can't add and can't remember what comes after 'Walla'.

I’m not sure where you got $650?? Total trip cost was about $3500 USD.

Not at all, it’s been mentioned all over this site for years. I play poker for a living.

Here’s what I was referring to:

Quote: PokerGrinder

Bangkok is one of the most expensive places I’m going to visit in Asia. My entire month in India will be about $650 USD which includes a lot of high end travel. I will be flying a lot, all my train tickets are 1st class and I’m staying in the nicest hostels. The $650 also includes day to day expenses. You can live VERY well in these countries for very little money.

Here’s what I was referring to:

Oh I see. India was about $600 spent (5 weeks) but the whole trip (India, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam) was closer to $3500.

I was watching "The Story of Maths" on Netflix, and the host of the series visited a temple attached to a fort in India where the first recorded "zero" as a numeral was inscribed on the wall:
When I heard "Fort" and "India", I immediately thought of PG's trip and pictures. Was this the place?

Quote: PokerGrinder

...I...ordered a tuk tuk off Ola (uber) to take me to Amer Fort. The first one refused the ride cause he was lazy and the second one didn’t come and find me, I had to find him. He seemed annoyed that I had found him but took me to the Fort. The Fort isn’t in Jaipur, it’s in Amer 45 minutes away. The tuk tuk only cost 150 rupees which is $3, I don’t know how they make money like that cause gas isn’t cheap here. I spent a few hours checking out the Fort and the gardens attached. The Fort is very cool, walking up steep hills in the blistering sun was less cool.

This is the mountain across the street. A local told me that a king had had this built for protection.

Doesn't seem likely. Here's what PG said of the location:

And here's what your linked article says:

Quote: Smithsonian article

The circle we know as “zero” was invented in India, and on the walls of a temple in Gwalior, you can find the oldest known representation of the circular symbol for nothing.

Google Maps suggests that (by the road) the two locations are about 337km (and 6h 22min) apart.

If you Google “first zero” and “india” you should get some other links that aren’t as limited. Note that recently a scroll with a zero on it was carbon dated centuries earlier, so the temple inscription may not be the earliest example. Neat to see it though.

Something I recall from some documentary. Of course, I probably got confused along the way.

My Mesoamerican geography is a bit vague.

[edit] Yup. I got my Mayans and Inca mixed up, even before any other misinterpretation of the thread [/edit]

You're right though. Some of us spend too much time in Nathan's corner... Especially since it branched out into every thread.
