The other day, I was in a baccarat tournament at a local casino, and they are trying a new no-commission game. Instead of the typical 5% being taken from winning Banker hands, instead every time there is a tie, all banker bets forfeit 25% of the bet. For example, if you had a $100 bet on Banker, and there was a tie, you would lose $25 of your banker bet. My question is, what is the house edge for this variation, and is it vulnerable to counting.

About 2.5% - 3%. I don't see how that is as appealing as EZ Baccarat, with pushes on a rare banker win on a three card 7, - as you would still be making fractional payouts, or charging a 25% on a tie. Do you know which casino this is? Dan.

I am not sure what this means.

A tie occurs 4.819422842 times as often as dealer win in 8 card baccarat. As they are taking 5 times as much commission that seems as if the resulting would be true:

-1.058% House Edge traditional 5% commission on banker bet
-1.144% House Edge with 25% commission on ties on banker bet

A little worse, but still not as bad as the:
-1.235% Player bet
