BJ has single, 2, 6, and 8 decks; 3 Card Poker, Pai Gow poker, Break Poker, single deck; BJ Switch, 6-8 decks; Baccarat 6-8 decks... What do you think casino operators would choose if all versions are available (i.e. house edges are all acceptable) and Why? The poll list is obviously incomplete.

Should the third choice be "multiple deck, (because of) no card counting"? (Or is it "Single deck, but card counting is rigorously checked and the ban enforced"?)

I wouldn't be surprised if the actual answer is "single deck, because it gives the casino an excuse to offer only 6-5".

Yeah, except 6:5 has invated show games too.

I assume shoe games because more cards mean the counts don't deviate too much. Of course, I'm not sure about the deviation, but I bet that's what the casinos would believe.

I would say single deck, because 6-8 cause a lot of problems with cards flying all over the place, necessity of leasing expensive automatic shufflers, etc.

Single deck has the disadvantage of being susceptible to counters, have to change the cards often becasue of players bending them, necessity of shuffling very often.

Final Answer: Casino operators would prefer all slots :)

Multiple decks yield more hands per hour due to less shuffling and that is very important to the casino. They also have a higher house edge and are less attractive to card counters. Even better for the casino would be multiple decks with ASMs.
