i was offered a host on my last trip but it was one of those off site host that responds through text. i never had one before and im use to the idea of it being someone you can talk to face to face but i suppose it does not really matter. my question to anyone reading, have you ever used a host before? what can they really do for you? i know the pit will write me up certain comps already in exchange for enough playtime. is the host just for show?

Oh man, our resident table game and host expert just happened to get suspended. I will do my best to fill in for him.
A Host can oftentimes give you things well above what the pit is authorize to give you. They are allowed some leeway based on their judgment.
It would help if you mentioned what your average bet size, is and what games you play. We might be able to tell you what you can and can't expect.

i play a lot of the table games but the main games i would say are ultimate texas hold em and baccarat. average bet size is between 50-75 dollars

Average $50-$75. Mostly likely not much at the strip. Off strip, some free nights and food comp. Just dont keep your hope high, then you wont be disappointed.
