The Forturne Pai Gow Poker Progressive jackpot at a local casino is now over $230k. This version of the game requires a $1 side bet. The progressive pays if the player gets a seven card straight flush which may include a joker.

What is the better way to play if I am willing to wager $100 to get it?

-- Play a single spot to see as many hands in as many rounds as possible.

-- Play two spots at a time.

-- Play as many spots as possible each round, including buying the bonus spot from non-bonus playing players.

-- Other?

I think you should play as many spots as you're allowed with the $1. The more spots you bet, the more likely it is you get the joker to work with. That said, I wonder how the people playing the spots to which you're adding the progressive bet would act if they actually got the hand. Are they going to just let you collect 230K? (I'm not a question, because I never met a sidebet I didn't play; if I'm on the game, I'm betting it. My fatal flaw from an AP standpoint, I'm sure.) So I'd be a bit leery of betting others' spots when it's that much money. Sure, they'll let you collect the hundy for the FH or wherever a pay starts, but...
If the House lost every hand, they wouldn't deal the game.

The progressive is now over $435,000. I recall the break even on this being somewhere in the $265k range. Is this an amount worth hitting hard?

Worth it? Sure it's plus ev. Chances are same as powerball of hitting it though

Just because it is positive EV does not mean one should play absolute maxt on it. It is about variance also.

Case in point. If the powerball jackpot was at $1,000,000,000, it does not mean one should mortgage his house to buy as many ticket as possible.
