Last night I stopped at a local tribal casino, and the craps table was entirely women. Okay, just the customers, ate least eight female customers at the table, and one of the crew too.
I'd never seen this before. Anyone else find this a bit unusual?

When I was at the Green Valley Ranch last (March), they had a party craps table every Friday, Saturday and Sunday night. The party craps table had 3 female dealers (4th rotating) dressed in tight, revealing clothing, and a grumpy, balding old male pit boss overseeing. The table was packed with male patrons in their 20s and a few older men who seem to be leering a lot at the dealers.
According to the (male) dealers at the other table, this party craps pit was started about 5 or 6 months prior. All the female dealers except one had no prior experience dealing, and they made lots of mistakes starting out. They get paid a higher based salary and share the tokes that the rest of the dealers make.
The male dealers were quick to point out that the drop rates during the evenings at their table were the same as the party pit. Most of the players at the party pit were playing the table minimum while the "more serious" gamblers were playing the other tables. Furthermore, the other 3 tables that were open tended to fairly crowded, though the party table was normally full.
There was quite a bit of hostility from the normal dealers (mostly male though one or two female) who dealt for a living towards this party crew. Basically, the general opinion was that they were hot girls, but not skilled dealers.
Personally, I did not have a chance to play at their table. I like to have a little bit of room around me when I play craps, and don't like to be jammed packed in with everyone else. Still they were fun to look at from the next table.
To go back to ChampagneFireball's post, yes it does seem a little unusual for a table to be filled with women patrons. I hope you jumped in and fired it up with them.

It's very unusual to see a woman at a craps table, yes. Traditionally I'll see younger, hot girls, who are there with a couple of friends learning the game or with a guy. I'll almost never see a 20-something playing craps "seriously". During my last trip I saw a few older women, 40-60, putting down some serious money which even that surprised me. I dabbled around the tables, lost a few hundred, but saw her write a check or something (casino credit I think) for about 9 grand at the Bellagio. To answer your question, yes this is VERY unusual, maybe it was a group of friends with a reserved table?

It's sort of a bifurcated post since it is about patrons or dealers.
Downtown you see some serious looking female craps players, but I have never seen eight of them at one table with no men. Usually if there are that many women at a table and some of them are attractive the guys come from other parts of the casino and start playing.
I have not seen sexy craps dealers in my limited experience. I have seen a lot of women working the craps tables, and even all female staffing of a table, but they were often foreign born women who were trying to work their way up in the casino world. The overtly sexed up women usually work the blackjack, or the money wheel.
I could see how a middle aged male dealer who has been working for many years would hate this new development. Some of them take a great deal of pride in their chatter, and their ability to put people at ease. It's a real skill to be able to talk to strangers all day, and sound witty and charming while at the same time watching for cheats and keeping the game moving.
I find the overt objectification of young girls fairly unappealing. They look like bored young women with their stomachs exposed. I would much rather talk to a charming older woman.

I did and the first woman had an incredible roll making me a few hundred at the $3 table. But then each shooter after that was an immediate seven-out, and that included me. Still left up some change.

I play a lot at GVR, and when they first opened the table, the girls were dealing a slow game that required a lot of coaching from the box. Note that the GVR doesn't always have box man for each table, but this table has a dedicated box man, and for good reason. Over time, the 'party' dealers have gotten a lot better, but the box is still there. I also have noted that this table doesn't seem to get more play then the other tables. It can even stand empty for long periods of time while the regular tables are packed. Craps players are superstitions. If shooter misses a couple of times in a roll, the table empties out and revealing clothing doesn't seem to impact this much. I am not really sure what the GVR is trying to accomplish, but it does seem that overall the craps tables have been getting more play, at least to my eye, which is surprising given the economy. So maybe people like to glance over at the ladies from the other tables. I don't know.

Oh, I am all for the eye candy! Nothing wrong with having a table with 3 nice looking female dealers... and a bald, overweight, grumpy boxman. Laugh.
However, if the game is slowed down or if a lot of mistakes are being made by any dice crew, male or female, I would rather not play there. Still Green Valley Ranch, due to their clean and friendly enviroment, and the fact that they rate the odds bet, is one of my favorite place to play.
