I'd like to learn more about sports betting, from an AP perspective. I.e. I want to win over the long term. I'm looking at buying Wong's "Sharp Sports Betting," since he's a respected gambling writer. Any other suggestions? Thanks.

Not many books on the subject. Wong's book is a good one, but it hasn't worked well for me.

Several years ago, I had $30,000 on North Carolina -1.5; they missed 2 free throws at the end of the game (only won by one point); I had to pay my bookie Frank Perlin $33,000. Just one of my many, many bad beats.

Wait a minute ... Wong on sports betting?

Seriously?

You'd think he'd have learned his lesson with the dice setting fiasco.

He should stick to BJ.

Wong wrote his sports betting book before dice setting, as I recall.

I've read it, it's interesting enough and details how you might go about handicapping sports for yourself.

It seems that a 19 year old Orlando, Florida girl might be able to advise you, she was just making ten grand a day at it.

To make $10k per day, she would need to write about $175k in action every day! That's rather impressive for a first-time bookie. I'm assuming she is a noob since she is only 19. Good for her. Recession my ass!

Not the same thing, she was making ten grand a day booking sports bets for others. I'm not as interested in that side of it, given how much more illegal it is, and the capital required. I'm guessing there's no way she was backing up that action with her own money.
