I explained my situation to them nicely, and they cashed my ticket by mail!
I told them I would be forever grateful, and I am!
Go place your Sportsbook bets at the Golden Nugget. They know how to treat their customers!
And don't forget to check the expiration dates on your tickets!
This isn't that unusual. I have never been denied cashing an expired sports ticket and I have had lots of them over the years. They should be good for as long as the place is in business.Quote: jobabaI had an expired sportsbook ticket from Golden Nugget, and it was expired by a few weeks, and it was for a lot of $.

I agree. But they do reserve the right to not cash it if they wished.

I have. Anywhere that honors a winning bet, expired or not, deserves all due praise.
I don't praise anyone for doing the ethical thing.Quote: WizardI have. Anywhere that honors a winning bet, expired or not, deserves all due praise.
Anyways, you are not dead yet. Are you still fighting this, or were you miss quoted?

I certainly think a place deserves credit if they have the option of denying a nearly $1000 winner that was expired to a random customer who lives WAY outside of Nevada, but decides to honor it.
I have seen some stories of expired tickets getting denied but I cannot even make a guess of the frequency.
I do however agree that it is the ethical thing to do. At the very least, if denied, I would have asked them to return my original $100 wager. Bet is expired = ticket turns into a loser doesn't make sense. At least give back the bet.

It's an old story. I got paid after months of fighting with Gaming on condition that I don't mention who it was *ahem*.
I assume you mean Golden Nugget Vegas.
I waited a couple days to see if the answer to this would pop up - but they mailed you a check for winnings from Nevada to a different state?
Or was there any mailed check at all? Were you a regular player and they deposited at the cage for you against your line?
Without further speculation, how exactly did you get the money and where do you live?

Was this written up and discussed over on Anthony Curtis's site? I have fuzzy recollections of the Strat not honoring a pretty big bet but eventually caving.
