this one falls in the believe it or not category
my teammate, the year after I graduated - one year younger than me -
got 40 on Dematha in a losing effort
after the game Dematha's legendary Coach Morgan Wooten came up to him and congratulated him and told him it was the most points ever scored on one of his Dematha teams
Alcindor (Kareem) got 33 on them in the first game and 16 in the 2nd
sadly, and so unfairly to him, there is no internet account of this game - that really pisses me off - it was an unimportant non-league game - but still
.
the Commanders losing to the Boys was the wildest game I've ever seen
2 missed PATs, a blocked punt, and a kickoff return for a TD and a punt return for a TD
really ugly errors by both teams at different times
41 points scored in the 4th quarter_____________________(-:/
very, very entertaining
.
totally boring till the 4th quarter, then it was "don't miss" footballQuote: lilredrooster.

had a 50% profit boost bet down that I made @ 3rd quarter on the under ... fortunately a little voice told me to cash out before what I could get was next to nothing

I'm looking forward to it—my two favorite college teams. The 1973 Sugar Bowl still haunts me.

That was probably the only TD reception that Richard Todd ever had.
He scored a touchdown, but is he credited with throwing a TD pass on the play?
Quote: billryanJosh Allen throws a pass to a receiver, who then laterals it back to Allen, who scores.

Yes! As has become commonplace for Josh Allen, it’s another first. First NFL player to throw a TD, run for a TD, and receive a TD in the same game. While NOT actually being credited with a reception! So he had ZERO receptions, but had ONE TD reception!
He is now odds on favorite to win the MVP. He’s had a few bad games, but also many ‘highlight reel’ plays as well.
Saquon Barkley probably deserves the MVP. He is probably going to set a record for ‘2nd half’ rushing yards. I think by A LOT. Gets better as the games go on. Combo of power, finesse, and speed.
11-1 Army vs. 8-3 Navy.
I've been following this game for over fifty years, have attended a few, and don't recall a game featuring teams with records like this.

Total seems high this year. Both teams have better offenses but this game hasn’t hit 40 points since 2013.

Under has hit 17 of last 18 games. Dumb SOOPOO has the over in a parlay. Been one score game 8 of last 10 games. Dumb SOOPOO has Army -6.
I’ll be happy to not hear ‘transfer portal’ or ‘5th school in 5 years’ or ‘out on parole’ when discussing the players.
This led to many injured players, especially groggy players, trying to play through injuries. The 1920s seems to be one long experiment as subbing rules changed constantly. One rule change allowed players who left the game injured to return at the start of the next period.
Otherwise, a player substituted for could not reenter the game.
Knute Rockne exploited the system by starting his second string and putting in his fresh first string once the other team was worn down.
When WW2 came along, so many men were overseas that colleges scraped the bottom of the barrel to field complete teams. The NCAA allowed unlimited substitution.
WW2 brought about another significant change. Wartime restrictions forced West Point to cut practices from three hours a day to an hour. Unable to practice offense and defense, the Cadets split into offensive and defensive squads, and the game was never the same.
After the war, so many able-bodied men flooded into colleges via the GI Bill that colleges could field almost unlimited teams. Some programs soon had two hundred players, and B-Squad games were played regularly.
In the 1960s, West Point had almost 150 men in their football program.
Next year, colleges can have 105 players per program, but for the first time, all players will receive full scholarships.
It seems like the days of walk-ons are over.
Quote: billryanI knew players used to play both sides of the ball, but I didn't realize college football had stringent substitution rules. Unlike the unlimited substitutions we all are familiar with, football allowed limited substitutes, and a player couldn't return after he was subbed for.

The college football player that is going to win the Heisman is a star at wide receiver and cornerback. He plays all downs except special teams.

What? The WINNING team had 4 completions. The losing team amassed 7 completions. It looked like Navy outcoached Army by a lot. I loved the fake punt with the big guy running 30 yards.
Pathetic bowl season is starting. The best players on lots of teams are ‘opting out’ to prepare for NFL draft, or enter the dreaded transfer portal, or to spend more time on their studies.
There are 12 teams that care. The other bowl games can be summed up as …. garbage.

2 of Navy’s 4 completions were TDs. Army couldn’t cover. Was the factor for sure in the over under.

The beauty of players sitting out is that the casual bettors don't pay attention and tend to bet the teams as if it is the same group of players from the regular season. Small advantages can be found.
Scorigami.!!!

I don't recall any in the NFL earlier this year but it wouldn't surprise me.
There have been 1090 unique scores in the NFL history.
2 different NFL players on the same day fumbled the ball without any interference just before reaching the end zone each time negating a TD - see link
Taylor actually did an end zone dance (first YT vid) not realizing his goof and of course took lots of heat on social media

I can almost understand a defensive player doing it, as they don't practice scoring, but for a receiver or running back to do it is unforgivable.
