Do you take NFL win totals bets for teams that didn't play on the Thursday night opener up through Saturday (or Sunday morning before first games)?
The reason I ask is because I want to make a trip out there to put a few big bets in and stay the weekend but arriving Thursday is an issue.
Thanks if anyone knows.
If you are using it as part of a parlay, the wager must be booked prior to first kick-off of course.
Edit: I see that you are actually asking about season win totals. Sorry, better call the book.
Maybe they've loosened up on that a bit, or maybe not. Suggestion: Try submitting the question through email if you have trouble getting through. Or maybe go through a host, if you have one. Don't ask about betting lines or even mention them at all when asking about how late they take a wager given your arrival date. That really could be getting into Wire Act territory (if this doesn't already) and get you a quick hang up or dead silence.
If all else fails, which in my opinion could be possible, then asking here and on similar boards really might be the OP's best bet to find out. If there's no reply posted answering the question by mid-day Saturday, I'll make a note to myself to ask someone working in the book I plan to be in tomorrow before I pack it in for the day. Though the suit wearing type ladies & gents will probably be a lot more busy than average, what with these weird games scheduled tomorrow with the college guys in pajamas bouncing a beach ball around, so don't count on me. If I remember and do get it answered it will be at an MGM affiliated property, but would probably be similar to others' policies on this.
Second, the casinos will not forward a call to the sports book from the general public. They might if you can provide a specific name of who you want to reach. Most such questions would be "What is the line on...." I think answering that question over the phone might be illegal but they certainly don't want to do it all day long, even if allowed.

Federal Wire Act of 1961. Technically, they could discuss Bets if they absolutely knew the person was in Nevada at the time of calling, insofar as I understand it, but I really don't know how they'd know that. It is also that same law that makes online betting illegal, or at least an argument therefore, as it references, "Communication lines."
As you've pointed out, they wouldn't want to address these sorts of inquiries even if they were permitted to do so. They would constantly be flooded with calls trying to stay up on the latest line moves. Each Sports Book would likely need its own small call center to handle the volume.
That said, I forget the context, but I did ask to be and was transferred to a Sports Book once. I think I was trying to determine something in relation to a post someone made, but I don't quite recall.
As soon as the first game is underway, all of the NFL win total lines will immediately be taken off the board, including those who have not yet played, and they will all be unavailable for wagering on totals. So if you arrive after a Thursday season opener, you will not be able to wager on your o/u season win total even for a team that is not scheduled until Sunday. That is at a major MGM owned Strip property, and is company wide. And given the emphatic clarity of his answer to me, I tend to think it is highly likely to be true of most and perhaps all other books as well. Sorry, but there you go, and at least you know (to the degree you decide to trust this information) so you can plan accordingly.

Thank you for the information. I misunderstood the original question it seems.
If the Seahawks/Packers play the Thursday night opener, those will be the only two teams unavailable to bet after kickoff, while the others stay up until their first game kicks off.
Thanks. Seems I probably generalized too much.Quote: HittemWestgate, William Hill, and Cantor Gaming will...<SNIP>

This is really interesting and what I thought would be the case, mainly. I have heard from others (here and on forums where guys live in Vegas and have asked) that they shut all of the best down once the Thursday night kick is off.
Here's the last question: If I called them and said, "I might place a $10k wager, and my friend might do the same ..." that ended up being NFL season win total bet, would they comp me a room?
Thanks,
Lando

It might be different in sports betting, but I think you'll have the most luck with that if you show them the ticket(s) at check-out and ask them to review and comp you now that they have your action. Hypotheticals are very hard to turn into pre-comps if they don't know you.
I know my online book has them up until Sunday if the team hasn't played yet.
"Hittem" said Westgage, CG and William Hill will.
Another person said Mirage won't.
What's the deal? Are the NFL regular season wins bets just taken off on Thursday until the conclusion of the Thursday game for some reason (an injury that might affect another team or division?), but then opened again until Sunday at 10 am Pacific time?
I find it odd that this is so hard to answer.
