Quote: steeldcoThinking about the lousy last couple of weeks.......and I think that I had a similar spell before the All-Star break last year. I'm going to go back to last year's records, and if that's the case, then I think I may consider not posting picks for a period before the break.
Interestingly, last year, the 2 week PRIOR to the all-star break, and also the 2 week period POST all-star break were not good. Not quite as bad as what occurred this year, but pretty bad. Last year, the 2 days prior to the break were winners. Will that pattern hold this year? Dunno. Not sure what to make of that yet...........

If your going off his picks, it a risk.
Any bet is a risk, but you have to also use judgment. I have done decedent except a couple of days with is picks.
i switched a couple on the other side of his picks.
When he raised his dog picks think that where it has hurt. I haven't raised my units.
Good luck in your adventure.
Quote: robleftcaIf your going off his picks, it a risk.
.
I bet 130 dogs only
lets just say i bet 100 a game
13 winners --lets make it +2000 (generous)
40 losers -4,000
total minus 20 positions
Nobody trying can lose 4 out of 5 plays for two weeks.
Nice guy. Always posts at same time...reliable but I'm not only off his picks im off this site
The best customers for the casinos are the ones that walk up and day I want this, with this, ummmmm and this one.
The best ones for me are the ones with the books, magazines and notebooks. I know sam, Frank and dan will win 66 percent of time. And when they win, I win. They will tip me. We don't make allot and live on tips.
The out of towners might hit big parlay but likely not. Some will tip but they loose more then win.
I love coming on here before work to check the picks dvd compare them to my picks. If we agree, I pick. Sometimes I skip the game if I don't like his pick or agree.
I tell people ask the time, you don't loose money of you don't bet it. They say well I won't make money. True do you are risking your money on a hunch.
As for only taking 130 dogs, it a good idea. However there a reason they are dogs. There is more then 50% chance they going to loose. Of course you might go in hole.
The stat of day for you and everyone to think about, top team right now is A's and Dodgers. A's win 62 percent and next is Dodgers with 55% in wins. Worse teams texas and arizona have a win percent of 40 and 41. As you see teams win about 50%. So picking 3 team parlay lowers your odds. 50 of the time a straight bet will win. Picking is dogs but are those the times they will loose? Probably yes, but could pay off if you get on the right side.
Okay enough of my rants lol. I get upset when I give advise to our customers and they still bet 8 team parlay.
The joke in casinos is how much an 8 team parlay for 20 dollars pay??........0 they don't happen.

There will be no picks tomorrow because of the extended time off between games. I'll resume on Saturday.
Last year I fooled around with baseball wagers in my spare time, based strictly on things to do with the betting lines & bettors & behavior of the wagering market within certain odds ranges, with no consideration of handicapping the competition on the merits of the teams. What I did was rather simple, used nothing more complex than a spreadsheet, was only back-tested for one prior season, and was not for amounts of money that are significant to me. It was consistently successful in May & June until it began to fizzle near the All Star break, and then didn't work at all for the rest of the season. From the break forward it was a dramatic apparent shift as if there were two entirely different seasons. I lightened up and then got off it entirely, finishing only very slightly above break-even. I haven't had time to fool with it this year. I thought the pattern of your posted results was interesting for obvious comparative reasons. I have no good fundamental theories on that (roster changes, different use of pitching rotation, mid-season adjustment of line-setting, ...?...) and random variance inherent in a limited sample size is obviously a likely suspect.
Again, it is probably irrelevant to what you may be doing, but there you have it, in case you find something useful in that.
Hmmm, interesting. Seems it could possibly be consistent with making a case for anomalous pitching occurring around a scheduled break. Good luck.Quote: steeldco...I did find that my algorithm was a loser in the 4 weeks surrounding All-Star break...
...I will add, however, that it went back to doing well again after this 4 week period....

Just won 8 in a row, wahoo.
Was in Vegas in March and put 20 bucks on the Rays to win it all, 17 to 1
So far this season, Rays been a dissapointment, now with 8 in a row, things looking good.
(been posting alot lately from work last few days due to being in remote training at work and its boring. Teacher trainer is at home in San Antonio and me the student is in Tampa and other students at home in various cities around the country. Its all over the computer and phone)

He was on the block till the 8 game winning streak.
I think they will keep him if they keep moving up in the standings and qualify for the playoffs.
He will definitly be gone next year.
We dont pack our stadium with fans, Rays dont draw well, so cant really afford him next year.

Tampa should not have a baseball team at all. It is pathetic to watch them on TV and see literally 800 people in the stands. I live in Pittsburgh and during our 20 year losing streak we had a better attendance than the Rays did and they were going to the World Series.

Yea I hear you. I'm actually part of the problem. Baseball fan that hasn't been to the stadium in years.
Its not close, I'm in Tampa, Stadium in Ste Pete, about a 45 min drive no traffic, longer with traffic.
Its just so easy turning on hi-def TV and watching the game.
I grew up in Baltimore late 1960's listening to baseball on the radio, very few games on TV.
This era, living in Tampa, Every single game on high def TV, great view, clean bathroom with no line, food in the fridge.
Late 1960's and early 1970's, Orioles had some really great teams and very crummy attendance at old Memorial stadium, kind of deja vu for me.

it doesn't help that they have the worst stadium in history. It pains me to even watch it on TV.

I grew up in Baltimore also. When the Orioles had a 10 time All Star 3rd baseman, who would up in the Hall of Fame.
Holds record of the fewest strikeouts for a batting champion (13).
And his name was nor Brooks Robinson.

I think that Brooks Robinsons just may have been the best 3rd. baseman in the game.....ever.
