Exactly, Internet access blew, and I got home this morning rather than last night. I almost ended up stuck in Chicago until mid-afternoon Christmas day because UNITED AIRLINES DID NOT HAVE A CREW FOR MY FLIGHT, managed to scramble a rent-a-car from Hertz, who absolutely collectively raped us pursuant to the sudden increase in demand, and just got back from a nine hour marathon drive a few hours ago.

I haven't seen the pillow since Monday morning, and go to work in two-and-a-half hours...ugh!!!

I'll have the Picks posted sometime tonight, I'm sorry I couldn't get to it this weekend. I had it half done at one point, got booted off Internet, and said, "Fuck it." Not a violation of Forum Rules, an exact quote!

Sorry that you had a brutal drive. I fly back via United from SFO on Boxing day via OHare, but it's calling for cold and sunny skies that day.

There are four people within a percentage point of the lead and the top four are within ONE game of each other (that is a 5-0 week will topple the front-runner if they have a 4-1 week).

The Wizard can still win it with a perfect 6-0 week if all of the top 4 have losing records.

The realistic win right now is $434.83 (assuming that the bottom two won't pay). I'm wondering if anyone is interested in a win sharing proposition. I would be.

Good work. Please note that Knuckleball3 went 2-4 this week and should be 41-46 for the year. (His picks this week have to be edited by hand, since the grading program doesn't recognize an "O" by itself for Over and a "U" by itself for Under... it needs the full word.)

Also, I was 3-2 this week and I'm now 33-53 for the year.

Other than that I agree with all of your other final standings.

The above table was edited today, on 12/27. Reason: It was pointed out to me by another member that...

(1) FRGamble skipped Week 6 and 15 and played in Week 16. Since we gave Babs an 0-5 forfeit penalty earlier in the year for a skipped week (Week 7), to be fair I think we have to do the same for FRGamble. The above standings reflect that.

(2) Jon skipped Week 1, and Mission said that would be his one skipped week. But he also missed Week 15, so the above standings reflect an 0-5 record for Week 15.

Note that if ZoomZoom8 plays in Week 17, then we also have to give him an 0-5 forfeit for Week 16, since he skipped that week.

Thanks for the complimment, Ed. Likewise the steelers (my team) I had a bad start and was the last contender by week 10. Now I am struggling to make it to 0.50! Way to go!

Wish I hadn't missed picks earlier in the season so I could take this week off and lock in the 0.500 record. That way I could enter next season as "NoBetterThanCoin" for signature line.......I am sure I will screw up the 0.500 in week 17 and undoubtedly need to sign off as "WorseThanCoin"!!

You should put picks in so the Wizard can have a shot at beating you. :)

Play. Sitting out now is like in the nfl when you have a 7 point lead in the nfl and you start playing the prevent defense. It ends badly a lot of times

I'd like you to play, honestly, but the Wizard will tell you that your best EV would be to sit.

Edgelooker is right though. Wizard, at best, can only hit 57.89%. And if you don't play, Edgelooker and StrictlyAP would have to go 4-1 or better to win, while JW would have to 5-0 to beat you.

I can tie you with 3-2 and beat you with 4-1. Therefore, I am going to change one of my bets to a confidence, and I would have to go 4-2 or better to beat you should you choose to wimp out and not play. ;)

The question is, given the field this weekend, how likely am I go to 3-2 or better? I think it's just about 50-50. How likely is Edge and Strictly likely to go 4-1 or better.

If you use a binomial distirbution, the odds that Edge, Strictly, or I go 4-1 or better is about 30.3% given a 58% success rate. The odds therefore of one of us going 4-1 is about 66.2%. Keep that in mind when making your decision.

I made my final pick on the Bills Under as a confidence pick. I figured first it's my "home" team, I hate the Patriots, and that games favor the unders in adverse weather conditions. Put all of that together and it appeared to be a no brainer, but time will only tell.

it's late in the 3rd quarter or early in the 4th quarter for the afternoon games, as I type this.

Five minutes ago, if the NFL season had ended and no more scoring by any team, EdgeLooker wins the contest.

However, a moment ago after I updated a couple of the scores, BoyMimbo is edging him out, and wins.

That's how close it is.

I think it will come down to the final, Sunday night game, before a winner is determined. Note that EdgeLooker has Philly -6.5 (confidence) on that game.

Fun stuff.

StrictlyAP cannot win as they have the same picks as Edgelooker. JW17 cannot win as if Chicago wins, Edgelooker edges JW out with the Denver win.

And if Buffalo can keep New England from scoring a TD and doesn't score on their own, well, you never know. Hopefully they just fart the ball around midfield a few times and turnover the ball a couple of times to end the game. At this point a field goal for Buffalo only results in a tie for that game for the Over / Under (so much for my bad weather theory).

So even if Philly goes south for Edge, it won't for JW and StrictlyAP.

We'll know alot more in about 10 minutes.
