I wasn't aware that the little daytrip boat out of Port Canaveral allowed Sports wagering. Has anyone ever been on and know what they offer? Like can you bet on a game that's in a couple of days when you are on board? How would you cash? Or only action that closes before you get back into port? This could be fun during March Madness...

I have been on the boat just once, and they do have a sports book operating in their sports bar/restaurant. When I was there on a Sunday last January, the big thing was the NFL playoff games. One game ended during the cruise, and another was still in progress (I think) when we got back to port. I'm not a sports bettor, so I didn't check into how they operate the place and how they handle after-cruise payouts. I think you're just supposed to lose all of your bets.

I've often wondered about that, but I'm not a sports bettor either. I guess they just have a "float" where they've lost the bet but you can't cash your ticket until you are next in International Waters. I think one of those sports books is a Leroy's sports book which might make the tickets cashable in Vegas. I don't know for sure and it might not be Leroys anymore, but the vessel does not book the bet, a Las Vegas sports book is booking the bet and the laws of Nevada operate as far as ticket redemption and dispute resolution. It is legal to mail the tickets since they were legally written in Nevada and legal to transport them to Nevada. At no time has the vessel done anything more than rent space to a Nevada Sports Book and furnish one of its sailors as a ticket writer to that Nevada Sports Book. The Vessel didn't book the bet and will not cash the ticket, the sports book booked the bet and will cash the ticket.

LOL. I guess that is what the books always hope.

TRADEWINDS Gambling Boat and sportsbook out of Madiera Beach (Tampa).

You want ACTION??? Well we have it waiting for you here on The Escapade. Bet on any sport, any team, any way you want it. Featuring Straight Bets, Parlays, Teasers, Futures, and all the prop action you can handle. Our betting lines are updated out of Las Vegas on a constant stream so you’ll always have the best chance to win big!!

The Palm Beach Black Diamond gambling boat supposedly has a sports book but I keep hearing that it never actually sails and is probably out of business. I would never sail on it even if it were actually sailing.

You are physically in International Waters but electronically you are inside a Las Vegas Sportsbook getting the lines via a sattelite feed of some sort and can do pretty much whatever you would want to do in a Nevada Sports Book. The only restraint is that if a ticket is presented for payment on the vessel the vessel must then be in International Waters.

Like we thought, they have terminals similar to Video Poker Machines with all of the available bets. There is also one employee who can handle bets live. As with all of the gambling units, they turn on at the 3 mile mark, and turn off on the way back. You can cash anything during that time, and they have certain advance wagers if the lines are up. If your ticket is live and you are heading back, your options are to sail again, cash via mail http://isisports.com/MailPay.pdf , or if it wins during the trip home (like 30 minutes then another 30 minutes for all the slow people to get off the ship - the TVs are still showing all the games during that time) you could sell it to one of the regulars.
