Does Billy Walters pay his stat guys? I would think so or he might place bets for them. Some sort of arrangement beneficial to all parties.

I wouldn't in a million years pay a handicapper....ever! That scam is as bad a system sellers!

Absolutely. He has a bunch of handicapper sites
he subscribes to. At least thats what he says.

Bob,

Exactly correct. Does someone think that the stat guys work for free while Walters makes millions?

Lots of my clients use touts. I wish they all used 'em.

I make a killing off those guys. Love it!

The Smart Money is a thinly veiled account of working of the experience of one of Walters' runners. There was also a 60 Minutes piece on him about a year ago. He is secretive about how he chooses what to bet, but I'm sure there are handicappers on his payroll. As I recall, the runners are paid according to how the team does, but it might be negotiable.

This is the biggest scam ever. I will say the commercials for Jack Price etc were hysterical. He once claimed he sent 8 scouts to the same venue who did not know each other and they all came back with the exact same advice!! Also, his phantom seminars held in front of 50,000 at Caesars Palace had me falling off my chair.

Some of his bettors are paid by how much action they can get down regardless of the outcome.

To answer the question in the title, I'm highly dubious of touts (people who sell picks). Like those who sell betting systems, if what they had to say was so good, why aren't they rich doing it themselves?

One big reason is, there's only one place in the US
to legally place bets and thats NV. Most of these
guys don't live in NV or want to live there. They
can make a good living selling their picks without
ever having to leave their home office. I know a
guy who is on a betting forum that sells picks, and
he says 90% of his customers are in EU. Sports
betting is legal everywhere there, and they love
betting on baseball and basketball. Football, not
so much.

Runners placing bets are another subject but a good point. Patrick Veitch, a horse capper in England, did not pay his runners but allowed them to bet on his picks. The guy made millions. I read the book about him but it was not an enjoyable read. Too much slang from England.

Thanks Wizard,

A percentage or a small flat fee and % would be a good way to go.

Thanks for the reply and the link!!

Wizard,

I just bought "The Smart Money" off ebay for $5 with free shipping.

I read Konik's other book "The Man With the $100,000 Breasts And Other Gambling Stories" What a title!!

It's a very enjoyable read. I've always wondered if the censors would allow showing them on network TV.

Oddsmakers had the line at 10,000,000 to 1 that this post would turn from sports betting to guys with breast implants that look like a fat Jamie Gold. They took the line down....

ZERO Doubt about it !!! If someone could beat a game they are NOT going to sell you their secret at any price.
I was actually beating Horse Racing for 2% on my money and decided that because of pari mutual wagering if i bet bigger my 2% would become 1/2% and even at 2% I could make more money with an average real job.

Rule One....No One is going to sell their secret at any price.

Rule Two....SEE Rule One

Playstkid,

That was smart of you to not press your bet to keep the % up. Less variance too with increased %. Can't you bet offshore to not affect track odds or bet with a bookie?
