There is a lot of controversy over the Bradley win over Pacquiao and talks of an investigation so I was wondering….in any boxing match, if an investigation is announced or some controversy around a boxing decision, do casinos still pay out those that bet on the announced winner or do they wait for the results of the investigation?

Similarly, if those that bet on the winner did get paid, and it comes out that there was some unethical dealings, then what? Do casinos go after those they already paid out? Do they now have to pay out those that bet on the loser since technically now he won the match? Or are the casinos out that money?

Does anyone know how it all works?

Nothing new about this - Dancer's Image "won" the 1969 Kentucky Derby, but a few days later, he was found to have an illegal drug in him and was disqualified, and Forward Pass declared the winner. However, if you bet on Dancer's Image to win, you got paid, and I'm fairly certain that if you bet on Forward Pass to win, you didn't (otherwise Churchill Downs would have lost quite a bit of money).

I seriously doubt a casino can pay off a winning bet, then try to collect it back if the result changes. What I am not so sure about is, what happens when somebody bet on the loser and keeps the slip, then tries to collect when the result changes.
This could be one reason casinos don't take bets on Olympic events any more - when do you pay off; when the event ends, or after any subsequent drug test?

I can't see how any casino can wait. I know nothing about the boxing issue, but I assume there was no question of an issue the moment the fight was over. I assume the issue was brought up shortly afterwards.

Even if it is just a minute, there was a point where the bet was settled. Casinos have to pick a stance and I assume they go with the original result.

This happened this past year in college football. I can't remember the game anymore but the officials called the game one way and then the NCAA came back and counted a touchdown I think which gave the win to another team. There were casinos in town that took both tickets as winners, but I believe most just took the original winner.

That was the Utah/USC game. Utah, down 14-17, attempted a game tying field goal. The kick was blocked and returned for a USC touchdown. The officials said no touchdown. Final score USC 17 Utah 14.

Two hours later, PAC Ten officials decided to count the USC touchdown and changed the final score to USC 23 Utah 14.

By the way, the pointspread was USC -8.5
