I like Rockin' Olives, and Slotsky.
I don't play much, but if I'm gonna play slots, that's what I look for.
Quote: buzzpaffThe Wizard of Oz with the sound cranked to the Max. When kids were growing up we watched it on TV every year. What a classic, especially when you really think about it. How seldom in life do we actually get to see the man behind the curtain ???????????
Mrs Mosca loves that one, too. She's hit it pretty hard once or twice. For me, it's $5 Wheel of Fortune, the physical reels version, by a mile. I'm a total sucker for that bad boy. The heck with the actual reel values, I want that spin. Although my biggest win ever, at anything in a casino, was when I got 5x/5x/5x.

This, +100. Turn on the Turbo button and light 'em up! Pisses me off when I see some old bluehair playing only 5 hands at a time on a 100-play machine. Shit or get off the pot, granny. Step aside.
But maybe I'll watch out for Bombs Away and Phat Katz, since now I'm curious.
Runners up: The Airplane slot bonus, the bike race of the Queen slot, and the Klingon attack bonus of the Star Trek game.
Double Diamond, and its newer variant, double 3x4x5x pay.
I really like Mr Woo and Super Jackpot Party.
I've been very lucky at Mr. Woo. I've played it probably 10 times or so and I think 5 or 6 of those times I've hit the $200+ large jackpot. The sad thing is I usually take that $200 and then lose it at the craps table.
I thought everybody knew it was _The Addams Family_. Ironically, _Attack from Mars_ is the machine that killed Williams' pinball division.Quote: avargovAttack from Mars/Revenge from Mars is awesome and funny. Williams went back to their pinball roots for this game. Doesn't hurt that Attack from Mars is the greatest pinball game ever made!
I have a soft spot for Coyote Moon, but I do like the Star Trek machine, with the Red Alert bonus. Me and the Mrs also like the Multi way bonus "social slots" such as Monopoly (not specifically the individual games contained within), where the bonuses it for everyone.
I discovered Airplane! recently. Fun and funny. The bonus game is very involved, and even when you lose, you have a chance to get back into the bonus. I found it hard to trigger the bonus, but very fun when you do.
Oddly, I find Sex and the City to be a volatile, high-risk/high-reward game. It's one of those money-sucking "play 4 games at a time" machines. The bonuses can give off some huge wins though. Never watched the show. I'm usually the only guy playing.
There is something alluring about the U-Spin slot. Simple 3-reel, 25-line action, with 2 bonuses... 3 money bags let's you pick one for a random bonus; The U-Spin on reel 3 lets you spins a touch-screen wheel. The wheel is weighted to land on certain spots for certain bet-levels. Added bonus: John O'Hurley is the announcer for the game. A nice surprise, great voice.
The community bonus games are a blast. Depending on how it's done, it can be a great success, or a bit paltry...
Ebay community slots were at Belterra for a while, and always seemed to have all 5 slots busy. It was taken out for a bank of Gold Fish 2 for some reason. The bonus was very simple, just a big-screen 5 reel video slot, 10 free spins, where everyone won the same amount. Depending on how much/how often a player bet, they could get higher bonus multipliers. A bit confusing, as the bonus was just a random trigger... no one person activated it, it just "happened".
Hard Rock in Biloxi had The Amazing Race, which I give mixed reviews. Any player with 5 special symbols on their reels would start the community bonus, which threw all 4 connected machines into a competition. The bonus game was confusing, not really explaining how to interact with it very well. Plus, if a player is knocked out of the competition, they would go back to normal slot play, while the others continued in the community game. Seemed a bit of a rip.
Good as the TPIR bonus games are, my favorite is on a relatively obscure machine called Latino Machino. The Cucaracha Bonus hits when two Cucarachas (wild) hit anywhere on the 1st and 5th reels. During the bonus, the wilds go from spot to spot, making payable hits on the way. Let's say the reels are set up like this:
12345
6789A
BCDEF
And I hit Las Cucarachas on positions "B" and "A". This would trigger the bonus. The Cucaracha would first go to position 1 (while A and B remain wild) and see if it makes a winning hit. If it does, it pauses to pay. If it doesn't, it just moves on. Then it goes to 6, B, 2, 7, and so on.
I'm making it sound dry, but it's actually very exciting. The music and cartoonish characters are nice too. Unfortunately, I haven't seen it often in casinos (you can guess why).
My other favorite is Revolution. Alot of fun and it is not necessary to play the maximum to hit the biggest payouts in the bonus.
Quote: timberjimHot Shots in all the different variations. I have just been lucky on this.
Hot Shots is so frustrating because I can't tell you the number of times I've gotten the bonus and won a grand total of ZERO. A bonus should be worth something, and not just enough to cover the cost of one spin. But I did hit the $200+ progressive the first time I played.
I'm not so fond of bonuses that are just free spins of the regular reels even though I won $600 on a Quicksilver that way. I like a second screen or an extra wheel or something. Even those ones that just randomly yell out "Instant Spin Winner!!" I've found one machine at the Rio that likes me and I tend to head over to it and plop in a twenty and cash out when I'm up 50 every once in a while even though it's not as fun as the ones that you get to DO something.
And I'm a sucker for those 50-play video poker machines even though the paytables suck.

Then imagine the fun you'll have when you discover the 100-play VP machines.
Quote: zippyboyThen imagine the fun you'll have when you discover the 100-play VP machines.
I have! But since it costs 250 for 50 hands at the penny level and quads pay 250, it's easy to keep your bankroll going quite a long time playing 50 hands.
I play them for fun, not profit. I enjoy Triple Double Bonus but it's too volatile to play one hand at a time at the quarter level so I indulge myself cheaply.

I'd nominate this game for the strangest bonus round. You have to uncover the bonus in a pile of sand so all of a sudden you have a whole bank of people pounding the tar out of their monitor. I think its one of the funniest things I've seen in a casino. If you've never seen it this YouTube video shows the bonus, (except most people use two hands 'cause they don't have one tied up with a video camera...)
For Mrs. Mark it's Pompeii. Between "Veni, Vedi, Veci" and the ground shaking on a big win, she's just all into it.
The only place I've played it is at the Silver Star in Philadelphia, MS. I haven't seen it in Vegas or Reno, although I always keep my eyes open for it when I'm there.
Quote: slytherI really like the "Reels 'O Dublin" (and it's variant themes) 5-mechanicial reel.
One of my Ex's tought me about the Super Hot-Hot ReSpin' machines...crazyness....
I neither play slot machines nor shoot heroin.Quote: nmacgreWhat is your favorite slot machine and bonus feature and why?
Money Storm (not Money Storm 2, though) - free games where every pay is a scatter pay. The weather beacon bonus sucks, though.
It's a Blast - features bombs and sheep - wierd, I know, but I loved doing the bonus math on this game.
Invaders from Planet Moolah - winning symbols disappear and new symbols cascade down. Get 4 or more wins from the reels dropping, and you win free games.
Latino Machino - freemont4ever mentioned this one too, but I have never been able to play it in a casino. The voice is sort of like George Lopez.
Mystical Mermaids - get a treasure chest on reel 1 and 1 to 4 mermaids on reels 2 through 5 and you get 10 free spins for every mermaid. Mermaids are also a scatter pay.
When the bonus symbols in Pompeii show up, there are men's voices announcing them, but it took me long time to figure out what they were saying. It sounds like they're saying, "Mini, mini, meeny" when in fact they're saying, "Veni, vidi, vici" (I came, I saw, I conquered). I get a kick out of listening to other players telling their spouses or friends what the words are; it's like listening to people tell you about mis-heard song lyrics.
I like the WMS Zeus hot hot penny machines too. When you get a first reel of all Zeus symbols it starts an automatic re-spinning of the remaining reels, to try and fill in with all Zeus or Wild cards. You only get 3 re-spins, but it's kind of exciting.
The slot machines I don't like are the Monopoly series. A lot of show for very little coins. I generally stay away from any machines that have a TV show, movie, or real-life personality theme, such as Wizard of Oz, Star Trek, American Idol, or Let's Make a Deal because in my experience these machines, for all their fancy sound systems and gimmicks, tend to have a very low payback percentage. Wizard of Oz bothers me no end because the voices they use are absolutely nothing like the voices of the real people. How hard is it to find someone who can imitate Judy Garland's voice or that of the Good Witch of the North (Billie Burke)? Any drag queen could do it better than the knuckleheads they used.
If anyone remembers the "Aztec Gold" slot machine..I liked that one.
I have 3 adult daughters 39,29, 25. When they were kids every Easter a TV station would play Wiz of Oz
movie and it was the girl's favorite, ( Dad's too, LOL ) Lot of wisdom in that movie !!!!
