Would casinos make more money if they attached a grand jackpot to all of their machine games?
Hey, it seems/ to work for the lottery. A small amount of money with remote chance of winning a big amount? That real penny player would like the thought that his or her 50cent bet could win a big amount.
Also, I really hate the trend which seems to have limited the access to a big jackpot unless you're betting maybe 1% of the total jackpot. I mean, seeing someone hit hundred grand with some ridiculous bet amount? C'mon.
Yeah, they do it in some casinos, and did it many years ago. Not sure why it's not more popular though.

The Grand JP doubles on Phoenix Link at the $2 denom, from $10K+ to $20K+.
Penny slots aren't the penny slots of long ago that were actually 1 cent per spin. They are 1 cent denom machines with per spin values of 50 cents to $5 or more. Still have the lowest RTP going. Playing 5 lines on the $1 denom raises your RTP not counting the tax man, but line pays will be much worse. A couple players recommend playing 25 lines as a sweet spot if you have choices between 50 lines and 5 lines; so that would be the 10 cent denom at 25 lines and a 2X multiplier for a $5 spin for a $10K+ Grand JP.

A lot of gamblers ask "why don't casinos do this". Well, I don't think anyone active in this forum manages a casino. And I assume those who manage casinos have a large quantity of statistics that are unavailable to us. So I don't think we should be recommending changes to casino execs, I imagine they make very mathematically-informed decisions on what to do the majority of the time.
Personally I don't want a grand jackpot on games, because it tells me that a large part of the RTP is inaccessible unless I get extremely lucky. But I am not like most gamblers.

As I understand, drop is different than hold.
If I were hypothetically managing a hypothetical slot floor, I wouldn't want the same linked progressive on more than about 12% of my machines.
This might change with the recent change to progressive meter rates.
