Sorry to hear that you've had this kind of bad experience. The next time I'm in Vegas, I'll look for this phenomenon. I don't ever recall seeing this situation.

Or at least 80% Asian.
They are in my neck of the woods mostly Asian as well.
I used to be angry at fellow AP's who made these observations because it seems so racist but I don't know what to tell you. It's literally mostly what I see.
It's 90% Asian and specifically Chinese Asian that gang hit these vulturable machines.
To give an example, I had dinner with a friend and his Filipino wife. The Vultures became an item of discussion and I apologized for stating the Asians are really hogging and ruining the games.
Her reply was telling. "Not Asian. Chinese. I'm Filipino and we don't do that. It's those damn Chinese!"
Though overall people are pretty well behaved in casinos, even the negative experiences are rare. Its kind of surprising considering its a place designed to get you intoxicated in more than one way. But, I think comparing to places with similar masses of people, fighting is far more common at concerts and sports stadiums than casinos. I would imagine that people who work at casinos (especially dealers) probably do experience a lot of negativity and aggression.
As for something that is beyond that, you have to try to film or at least record the sound inside your pocket and show or play it to security. And if they won't do anything send it to the news channels and the casinos lack of response. And if that doesn't work, well, you're out of luck, unless you've got ninjas on standby.

Ah, that makes sense.
Let's narrow it down further to Chinese people from China. Chinese-Americans wouldn't do that we're kind of dumb. have better things to do.

I see a disproportionate amount of Chinese gambling at Ilani, Portland's closest casino.
Ilani expanded its baccarat offerings to keep up with Chinese demand: good grief, where do they get all that money to throw on the felt?
You can call it greed or survival, but it's all they know and they're not about to change. Just like old prostitutes and criminals, these old dogs can't learn any new tricks.
Such countries are often classified as third-world or developing. There tends to be an overall lack of orderliness thereQuote: rxwineCulture of another country can certainly play into it. For instance, in some countries people standing in an orderly line isn't expected. Everyone crowds up to a counter and they all will walk right in front of you if you leave any space.

Lol.
In NY if you see six different registers, there are six different lines.
But I have been in other states where there is one long line in the middle and as each register becomes available the next person goes up.
I have seen people from outside NY get angry when New Yorkers pass right by them.and get behind the person being served at the register.
"Hey, mister, there's a line!"
To which the usual NY reply is "There certainly is. Not sure why you are standing over there. The line is here."
Outsiders usually get it when suddenly six more people walk past them and get on each individual line.
Quote: why1221Just based off 99% of the people I see in vegas looking/waiting on slots are asian, just curious if that translates to this forum as well? And if not, how are you competing with these vultures are at the casino everyday all day, and even when you manage to get on a good AP they will run up yelling/fighting and sometimes physically assaulting you?

I am not what would be traditionally called "Asian", although I did live in Hong Kong long enough to appreciate an effective public transport system.
I play outside Vegas, at off-peak hours, and look for games other than vulture plays.

I don't think I ever paid escalator fare, because I can walk up a hill.

I read your spoiler and have no idea what that means.
Octopus? Escalator fare? MTR?

MTR is the transit rail (you might say "subway"); Octopus is the new fare card system; and as far as I can remember, one of the escalators charged a fare to ride (turnstile).

Thanks.
Probably a good time to explain/warn everyone how to ride an escalator in NYC.
But I don't want to hijack so will start a new thread.

I lost about a dozen friends and family in two years. 2020 and 2021 were just death news after death news.
Causes were Covid, Cancer, botched surgery, overdose, heart attack, crime.
2022 so far my life is back to normal in that department. Not one person I know personally has passed.
Slot machines often employ Chinese names and themes (金, 双喜/囍 , etc)。
All the eight themed games out there now are evidence of catering to chinese market. 8/八 is lucky in china. 4/四 is unlucky because it sounds like 死 (to die)。
Designers must know something about the market based on these choices, right? There must be a large group of chinese players looking to play. Or a small group with a lot of money.
I am not asian though. 我是白皮猪。
Quote: acesideInteresting! How do you know this much Chinese? I can read it. Another reason might be that these slot machines were actually invented in the casinos in Macau.

I took mandarin in college. I do not know much. I am HSK2-ish. I review it using apps and watching youtube videos. I know enough to know that most people mispronounce the pinyin on games.
I think some are intended for Chinese domestic market as they have an option for hanzi. Others are all english without even the name in hanzi. The goal there is appealing to Chinese players in the west.

In all my time of playing, Asian table mates have been some of the most wonderful people to play alongside. The worst they ever are is taciturn, which is fine.
Thats about it. Next.
