I played at the Samstown 1pm no limit holdem tournament today.
Apparently I really pissed off the woman next, to me
1st off, I won a bunch of chips from her early in the tour due to her acting before me and giving info.
Anyway she was to my right and there were football games behind me I had money on.
Every hand I folded, I would quickly roll my seat back and spin the chair around so I could watch the game.
I would quickly spin back around and roll back to the table for the next deal
I was doing this about every hand but I never slowed down the game.
this really bothered her and she spoke up about it. I said I was sorry and chilled. We sat next to each other over an hour and she was very cold towards me.
She felt the dealer should have said something and was really bothered that it her that had to get me to stop

Was I wrong?

Kind of got 1st place in the end. 27 entries. Paid 3 places. When we got to 5, table agreed to restructure to give 4th and 5th place buy in back. Wen it was down to 3 and I was chip leader, we chopped. Bought in 35, won 251, tipped 21, profit 195

If you're not slowing down the action I don't see any problem. She might have just been pissed that you beat her in a big pot early

I find it very irritating to be playing or dealing when a player is distracted by the game on TV. Or distracted by anything else for that matter. But, as long as you're not delaying the action, then it's no problem. After all, there's a reason poker rooms have way more TVs than other areas of a casino.

I enjoy people not paying attention at poker tables almost as much as I enjoy people who drink alcohol at poker tables

A serious poker player would be watching hands that they are not in, and making mental notes on how others play hands. It will help them make a hard decision later on in the game. It will help them recognize "tells" and tendencies. Paying attention helps recognize loose or tight players. Identify bluffs etc.
Its all worth money down the line.

If someone wants to drink alcohol, watch TV. or play with their smartphone between hands....its more than fine with me.

I think the lady was stupid for making your pay more attention to the game. It probably helped you in the long run. It may have helped you concentrate more and snag your winnings.

I have been caught at times watching a game and getting caught up in it..and being told by the dealer "the action is on you".not realizing I have been dealth new cards..once that happens once...once I hold up the game once even if its for 20 seconds....thats it...i stop watching the game totally.

Its not fair to the table and not good for me as I discussed above.

the only thing I find irritating about televised sporting events are the players that vocally agonize over each play, as if i am interested in his financial stake.
no one cares..so just shut up and quietly watch.
If u want to cheer and yell and scream at the tv....there is a place that is made just for you...its called the sportsbook.

Ditto.

I wanted to say this in my post above but couldn't find the wording....
