Just wondering if you, as a player, would go play at another poker room just because the rake was lower than any other room?

Given the fact the all things being pretty much equal:
good dealers
same promotions
fair action
driving distance
comps
jackpots

If one room took $1 less per pot, would you switch?

I like cake.

I'm sorry, what's the question?

I'd probably think about the food options for a short while. And if player skill isn't included in "fair action" then I'd consider any difference in the quality of opponents as well. But, yeah, there's a pretty strong incentive to switch here.

There's free cake in the poker room, do you go?

This depends. Is the poker room situated on a lightly traversed alcove, one floor above the main casino, and sandwiched between empty corporate conference rooms and spooky, empty hallways? And can you find the room on your first visit there without asking a minimum of three employees, two of whom aren't quite sure themselves?

Assuming everything else is equal (it never is, but for sake of argument) then yes. This is a no brainer. One dollar per pot adds up to a lot! Especially in low stakes games.

At 25 hands per hour, that's 25 extra dollars off the table. If it's only one dollar added to the max rake, I think you can still assume that it's gonna be like 15 extra dollars off the table every hour.

And if you're a winning player, a good portion of that could have gone to you. Considering the relatively slim edges, if lower rake will earn me 5 more dollars an hour, I think it's worth it. Especially for a 1/2 player whose only earning something like 4 dollars an hour on the higher rake games.

Yeah if everything else is the same, obviously.

But if moving to the better raked room means you deal with significantly better players, or even burn 2 extra gallons of gas and one hour of your time in driving round trip, probably not.

When I sit at a table for 6 hours, I want a comfy chair. I want pleasant ambiance and music and girls walking by. I wouldn't even walk across the street to play in a smoky room of old men nits even if they raked only $2. Rake is only paid by the winner anyway, so if an extra dollar is important to you, tighten up your play and don't contribute to the pot.
