Evidently there is a form of social gambling in China/Korea/Japan called Ladder or Ghost Leg (wikipedia link). Below is a short YouTube video about it.

I know that PokerGrinder and MichaelBluejay have spent a lot of time in Asia. I'd be interested to know if they can shed any light on the game.

I stumbled upon the game when doing a review of Gameplay Interactive. They offer a very simplified version of the game, which they title Ladder. Please click the link and let me know your thoughts, questions, or corrections.

The question for the poll is would you play Ladder?

Would be a bit more fun if they randomly generated some more interesting ladders. Put one up like the one in the video and let me try to trace it before they show the winner (after bets are closed obviously)

I could imagine playing it in a bar or restaurant similar to Keno if it’s just running 24/7 in the background.

Let me fill out a slip for my guesses for the next 5, 10, games or something and pay on an x/5. Just something to do while we eat

I also used to play a cool version of this game as a kid in New Super Mario Bros for the DS. There was a vs mode as well

Or as a different way of simply playing keno. Space allowing, the player could place up to 20 balls on the tops of 80 possible vertical lines (the "maze" hidden below) and then have the screen scroll down as they ran through the rungs like a pachinko machine to land on random hit or miss number spots. It would give a better illusion of choice. How many rungs would it take to give each ball equal chances? Eighty?

I'm surprised this game hasn't made a big splash as (say) a slot bonus round game. As the Mario link shows it could fit many themes: trains going through a switchyard, running gridiron football players trying not to be tackled, zombie apocalypse survivors racing down alleys trying not to get eaten. There's potential.
Have you tried 22 tonight? I said 22.
