you might not be an AP if if you feel counting an 8 deck shoe is too hard due to the 396 cards.
Or practice counting at home with 2 deck blackjack but you always get 104.
If you know that the Savannah was named after a stripper and not a desert, you're probably an AP. And maybe a cheater. ;)Quote: RomesIF you think "The Savannah" is just a desert in Africa, youuuuuuuuuuu might not be an AP.

Sweet, that now makes two of you that has pointed out both parts of the joke. :-)
That was a good strategy I used to use in snowball fights, attack on two fronts. Make two snowballs and then throw a high lob shot at your opponent. While they are watching it arc through the sky, you let the second one fly right at them. If you do it right, your second shot knocks them on their butt, and then the first one lands as well. It is funny enough to make you wet yourself.

I bet you sometimes stuck a small rock in the middle of a snowball too, you fiend LOL
Well, I don't know about the half-card, but 49 cards to a deck could account for the 3 or so 10-value cards they always secretly remove, you know.

Quote: jjjooogggI read every post. Omg. I think I am an AP. 😀
Actually, I AM an AP (I don't need this thread to confirm it), and I do some of thing things that some of these people are saying "you might not be an AP, if you do", including at least one that you posted. Some of the things being dismissed as non-AP or voodoo are actually AP moves or plays, just maybe not in the way most obvious. So, I wouldn't base anything on this thread if I were you. :)
I gave my one and only answer much earlier in the thread and it was a serious response (which wasn't really the nature of the thread) relating to focusing on EV rather than results. But I do want give a second response based on my own home-life situation.
You might not be an AP (or professional player) if you sleep in your car most nights. LOL. I have a housemate who claims to be an AP/professional poker player, who slept in his car when I met him and still would be today, I suspect, if I hadn't taken him in like a lost puppy. He is not alone.....just easy for me to pick on him, as there is a whole subculture, especially of poker players that think the are AP's or "professional whatevers", when they live in their cars most of the time, with a few comped rooms mixed in. (If there was a shaking your head emoticon on this site, it would be inserted here)

Couldn't agree more.
As for the car thing... I try to keep it to 1 night a week or less, despite it being some of the best sleep I've gotten in the last 3 months.
If you only have one play, you might not be an AP.
Actually, you haven't confirmed anything here in any thread. How could you? Only a bit of simplistic blackjack jargon from some book or two.Quote: kewljActually, I AM an AP (I don't need this thread to confirm it), and I do some of thing things that some of these people are saying "you might not be an AP, if you do", including at least one that you posted.
Anyone who claims hundreds of thousands on the internet is irresponsibly misleading in the least, and wasting time at best. Most (psychologically secure) persons say they won yesterday, lost last week, and leave it at that.
Laughing would be the better picture.Quote: kewljYou might not be an AP (or professional player) if you sleep in your car most nights. LOL. Yeah, look at me! I'm an AP because I'm not always an AP. Drama garbage of the hopeless MickeyCrimm's. We all know 'em.
Gambling ain't so cute when you're no longer a cute little boy spouting numbers for some local media clip. Much more to it than simplistic numbers, and silly lowlife stories on the internet. Books and numbers will get you into trouble a lot faster than out.
Anyone who tells you about winning or earning a lot is almost certainly consistently losing or out of work. Self-evident.
That's perfect. Can't believe I didn't notice that. Thanks for the smile.Quote: djatcBruh read my sig
Are you just limiting that comment to gambling activities or do you mean it broadly? And I may know what I want as well. I don't know you from Adam. If anything, your contributions here suggest otherwise. The proof is in the pudding. You can talk all you want. But it's still irresponsible to anyone who might believe you, and chase nonsense; and a waste of time to you.Quote: kewljTheGrimReaper13: Your post isn't really worthy of a response, but I will offer a brief one. Anybody may assert anything on the internet. Why wouldn't a reputable person just say who he is, and where he works? Cut to the chase, skip the runaround of A vouches for B vouches for A.Quote: MathExtremistAre you just limiting that comment to gambling activities or do you mean it broadly? Sometimes, logic is its own worst enemy.
Don't get baited. The "pics or it didn't happen" mentality may be rampant but there's really no point in arguing with someone who believes everyone is lying about everything.Quote: kewljTheGrimReaper13: Your post isn't really worthy of a response, but I will offer a brief one. 1) The statement below is a lie.
2) The statement above is the truth.

Reputable how? It should be self-evident that an AP's earning potential is improved with anonymity, so you shouldn't expect an AP to say "Hi, my name is John Smith, here's my photo, and I count cards at Mohegan Sun on Tuesday afternoons when Suzy is dealing because she can't tell I'm counting."Quote: TheGrimReaper13Anybody may assert anything on the internet. I am guessing TheGrimpReaper13 is admitting he is either not reputable or that is his real name.
Please post your real name, employer, address, phone #, SS#, DOB, and mothers maiden name. That's what a reputable person would do. Lol

She is Asian and she said she would often use Asian superstitions/voodoo as a way to disguise that she was changing her bets when the count was good, she is really funny btw.
I bet we would not have thought she was an AP player either.
Not believing, or thinking that something is not real, is not an accusation of any type, let alone a wild accusation, eg, that someone is intentionally lying.Quote: MintyTo be fair, wild accusations made at others aren't any more believable than someone's description of themself. Making accusations is bolder than someone claiming they are at a certain level of proficiency at something, I believe.
ME never established that KJ is an AP; let alone what an AP would do were there any AP's than, say, those dealt the same cards over and over (and adjusting play). Bringing lying into this is stupid and illogical. Next, we'll be talking insults. Everywhere an insult.

Same cameras that never saw anything wrong at the Bellagio craps table? ;)
EVERYTHING CAN be AP'ed given the right circumstances. And there certain things people can do for cover or just plain entertainment. Being able to separate them and get more positive EV than you give up is key.
There's AP's and then there are anal AP's who wont bet a penny on anything negative whatsoever, probably the same guys who never tip for anything .
Obviously there's people who believe they can beat the odds but they are seriously deluded.
If you're actually trying to figure out if you're an AP by reading this thread then ya, you're probably not an AP.
There's so many different degrees of AP's. As a general rule no two AP's are exactly the same. There's guys who AP but don't actually make a living or anything close while doing it. I think that's the difference between the term AP and professional gambler. A professional gambler makes most of his money gambling. An AP mostly searches and plays stuff that has positive expectation.
