Hi Mr. Wizard. I tried my luck with Blackjack on Carbon Poker. Quite
successful thus far with the free bet of $5 bonus they gave me. It's 6
decks, dealer stands on soft 17. I can double after I split. I've been
using your table for 4 to 8 decks. My question is, can I sustain winning
here? What edge do I have vs Carbon?

On another note, I have question with regards to Soft hands. My hand
stays soft as long as I have an Ace correct? That means if I hit 2 times
it would still be soft?

Thanks,

Jim

Collecting is fine. You just need to wait 4 to 6 weeks. Yes I know a long time, but they will pay you. That's not even my question btw.

I don't personally have anything against Carbon. But a few years ago I made a cashout from playing poker there. I'm not a newbie to online play and I'm not stupid, but it was the WORST cashout experience I ever had. I trusted that they would pay me so integrity was not an issue, but it was like the gang that couldn't shoot straight. I don't know how many times I gave them my documents, plenty, though. It just took forever and was such a hassle I swore never again.

By the way, you don't have an edge at blackjack. Why would you?

Delaying payment under any guise is a great tactic by OLC's The longer the player waits the greater the chance he plays the money through again.

You're right. Now that you mention it, it reminds me of how many many online sites used to give me the option to reverse the cashin for what seemed like weeks sometimes, it stayed in that reversible status. As to Carbon, or Merge, (correct me if it's not Merge, my memory is foggy), I don't know if it was held in a "reversible status" or not. I just know that they gave me a lot of problems with "verifying". Plus, I had already ONCE BEFORE qualified my documents, and now suddenly we needed to do it again. And again. And again. And emails weren't answered, or emails "weren't received". It wasn't so much the wait in my situation, it was all the seemingly inept handling of it that pissed me off. I just swore I'd never play with them again under no circumstances. (even though I really wanted to, I need the action, lol)

Yes, it is still soft. For example, if you were dealt A-2 and have hit it twice and now have A-2-2-2, that is a soft 17.

I was under the impression that the chart for 4-6 decks that the wizard has on this site was to have an edge against the dealer even if it was a small percentage. So what you're saying is that there is no way to win to blackjack even with the chart? I'm a newbie to blackjack so I have little knowledge of the game and if it's winnable.

Thanks

Nope, there's no straight up edge off the top. You got to figure a typical game, no matter how many decks, just figure it's a half a percent AGAINST you, and then that varies by different rules. In the old days you could get bonuses from the online casinos and that would put you over the top, but it's been over ten years since I did that and I don't really think it's practical for people in the United States now.

Small point of interest, there used to be a really good single deck game on Boss Media casinos that actually did have a positive play off the top, like maybe 1/6% or so, but that is long since gone.

But you need to get some answers from other people on this group if you want to find out more about online because I don't mess with it no more. Good luck.
