Went to dicedealer.com just to see if any stories were added and it appears to be gone! Such a shame, was a very useful site. Has anyone heard anything?

thedealerslounge.yuku.com?
Scott Cameron's place? I think its moribund .. down but not out. One of their names lapsed though.
I think he stopped shipping his practice dice mats long ago.

I wish nextshooter.com would be updated. The Wizard should buy that site.

I know the original creator, the Bone Man, well. He sold the site about two years ago.

That was a great site for me when I discovered it about 4 years ago. Along with WoO, had some great info for learning/understanding craps. I always check back to see if its been updated... makes sense now why it hasn't changed.

On a tangent, what happens on something like that where someone "sells the site"? Does he just get a payout and the content stays? Does he still have involvement in updating it?

Yeah, I figured that he was retired and when the site suddenly blossomed to include online casinos I figured his daughter wasn't taking over the site but someone else probably had.

I think the two partners who started vegasmadeeasy.com had great content, then some sort of falling out and lack of prompt updating and meaningful content. (How long can a blackjack article be "coming soon")?

I don't know how "selling out" your website works. I know the cheapovegas.com guys (specifically, Matt Weatherford) sold out a few months ago. They had great content, but were only sporadically updating since one of the co-creators (Stinky) died. So now you see ad for hotel discounters on the site, but all the old content is still there, and they post a "What's New" every once in a while.

I think I'm allowed to say that the NextShooter sale was a clean deal for a one-time fixed price.

Too bad I didn't know that CheapoVegas was for sale, I think I would have paid more than whoever did buy it. That is one of my favorite sites about Vegas.

Its all commercialized, who cares. I went there to read the
wacky stuff.

I noticed that the new Cheapo guys carefully lifted out some of the critical statements. For example: They used to claim that the Imperial Palace casino was creepy. Those statements now missing. In fact, the description is somewhat glowing now. Also gone is the description of the Western (soon to be RIP).

It was refreshing to see reviews of the properties that weren't tainted by an agenda. But this too has passed.

Well, here's a review of the Imperial Palace that is pretty critical - but not overly so:

For what it's worth, I was visiting Las Vegas alone. When traveling alone, I don't mind questionable conditions, as long as it's not a Roach Motel. I'm happy to report that the IP is several steps up from a Roach Motel, but that's not saying much. Many people have described it as a dump. I prefer to describe it as dumpy. Granted, there's not much difference, but...

FYI: I wrote that review after staying there in 2010. I stayed there again in 2011. And I plan on staying there again in 2012.

Note: As luck would have it, earlier today I checked my rates there for the first week in October. G2E week. My rate is $25 midweek.

The point is, either they're gonna move me to a different property if I book, or the rumors that they have plans to shut down while they do renovations are incorrect.

Yeah, and CheapoReno doesn't even get touched...
