Lady Luck - You Tease Me So

It's been a very long time since my last craps outing. At least over 2yrs. Why the long hiatus? Licensing exams, work related stress, travels (ex-casino), etc. Tonight lady luck decided to tease me. I had a rough boring night at the poker table. The spread of more casinos in the NorthEast has hit hard the local staples. This has especially been true in Rhode Island and Connecticut.
After grinding on a poker table and losing half my session bankroll, I took the other half to an empty craps table. Oh craps, how I love you so. I was only planning on playing till for a few minutes as I was waiting for a friend to finish up. The dice felt great in my hands. New, sharp, and perfectly balanced. My fingers grazed the course green felt as I motioned to pick up the dice. Tossing the pair to the opposite end with carefree will; the croupier calls "the Point is 10". Aghh sh*t I think. Just when I'm about to take odds, I decide naw, I hate 4s and 10s. I make a come bet. Picking up the dice again, "8. Mark the 8".
I proceeded to roll for the next 15 minutes alone and it was glorious. I doubled my session bankroll bring me back to even. At most, I had 3 points (2 with odds) working. I 7'ed out twice in a span of about 15 minutes. But man it felt great. If I took odds on the 4/10s, sure I would have made more. I threw like I didn't care and came out a winner. Why is it when I concentrate hard and dice set, I lose? This was a great way to tease me.

Partial theoretical answer is that some dice sets that some recommend for certain occasions may actually work against you. The quick 7 out on a V3. Setting the dice on 7’s and rolling forever.

Dice seem to take perverse joy in being contrary, as if they were conscious and determined to break your heart. The best approach is to have no heart, at least none that those little monsters can detect.

Only if the newbie is an attractive female..
The difference between fiction and reality is that fiction is supposed to make sense.
