There is a free craps tournament promo going on at Harrahs Philly for all guests with a players card. I havent seen a craps tourny in ages since they had them at Caesars and Resorts AC for invited guests. It goes on every Thurs. Top 6 places win money and then return at end of month for final tables tournament. Im not sure how much the final table tournament prices are, but yesterdays prizes were 500, 300, 250, 150, 150, 150 for top 6 places. I won in the tourny and now looking forward to the final tables at end of month.

WatchMe,

Congratulations! Tear-em up, Tiger. I have a few questions (but don't reveal anything other competitors might use against you).

What were the max table odds? Did the other "winning" players have longer than average rolls? Were there "successful" players winning by making large center-field bets? Or, were they mostly winning by (aggressive?) press-and-take betting strategies? I doubt any dark-siders won, but did you see anyone playing the dark side?

Sounds like it was a ton of fun. Many thanx for sharing.

Thanks LP! Although it was a fun tourny and Im happy to have made money from it, I dont typically give much merit to the craps tourny win. So many variables with people throwing in crazy long shot bets, etc. However, my basic strategy was first to have an idea what the previous top players bank roll was so I had a baseline figure of where I needed to accumulate chips to. There were several 30 minute sessions with 100 players total. I went in the last session so I knew what players had before I played.

I then played the way I normally do as far as hit n off, hit n off routine. But I kept pressing my numbers. Going off every few rolls was absolutely the key to my success as the 7 came about every 4 numbers thrown. I was fortunate to not have gotten hit with a 7. There is no max so you can bet what you want on the numbers... Im not sure about the odds on the pass because I dont play the pass for the odds. I actually started off every new roll with money on the dont pass. Then played the boxes. Hit 3 numbers at a clip. Went off. Then also collected on the dont when they 7 out. After I started accumulating a lot of chips and felt I had a strong winning number , I played defensively. When I saw players at my table throwing in last minute high dollar hop bet, hard way, horn bets... I would bet the same denomination on the same bet so they would not surpass me if it hit.

We shall see how final round goes. Im sure people will be betting crazy bets and someone will probably hit a 10k hop bet at some point..haha

Just an idea - if you have a bunch of friends who like to play, you can have a private tournament. I've done this several times. We found a casino party company willing to come to our town. They bring their own table, chips and dealers. Its a smaller table, we can get 10 people comfortably around it. They charge $1000 for 3 hours. We each kick in $100, and then we do two time-limited tournaments for $50 or $100 each; start with 1000 in chips and highest chip counts at time zero split the pot. We usually give 60% for 1st place, 25% for 2nd and 15% for 3rd. You can do it in someone's garage or basement. Nobody has to bank the game, and you don't need to travel to a casino.
If government is the answer, it must have been a very stupid question.
