He was betting that he might not make the point. If he had done this, he would have been viewed clever and right for winning.

And if he wins 3 times in a row, he is lucky. If he wins 4 times in a row he is cheating and should be arrested. After all, casinos are there for people to lose for the entertainment value.

Someone playing the Don't/Lay bets is playing with the odds that the seven-out will come before the point. Someone playing Pass/Come/Place is betting against the odds that the wagered number will be rolled before the seven-out.
The "wrong way" shooter has the same odds of rolling the point and losing the bet, but is hoping for the more likely 7 in order to win. The "right way" shooter gets a bigger thrill from defying the odds when the point is rolled. It doesn't make a difference which way the shooter is betting, the odds against rolling the point are the same.
I started out playing the "dark side" and eventually would pass on shooting because it was more annoying when I would lose my own Don't Pass and Don't Come bets. Everybody plays for their own reasons and makes their own choices on how to play.

I often play the Don't Side... and when I shoot I shoot 'From the Don't, Hoping they Won't', as a stickman is likely to intone. Sure some people glare at me or even walk away from the table, but they have a right to do that even if I play the Pass Line. So I don't let it bother me. If I'm in a Wrong Way kind of mood....I bet on the Dark Side.

I always have thought that if you shoot from the don't and you throw a 7 ,you should get to keep the dice, since that's what you were trying to do.

Yeah, I have thought the same. However, the rules of Craps are the same, regardless of how the shooter is betting.

You're talking about throwing a 7 after the point has been established.
The dice always go to the next shooter under the same conditions irregardless of whether the shooter is betting pass line or don't pass. That way the game is always consistent.

Wrong way bettors shooting is a contentious issue. Many players back off, but I like to load up. Winning a bunch of money while the poor bastard loses his own is wonderful. From a superstitious point of view, I tend to see what you did, losing themselves money.

The rules of craps evolved from a situation where there was only a Pass Line and a shooter could not bet 'wrong' because in Street Craps there was only a Pass Line and much action was inter-player fading.Quote: BlueEagleYeah, I have thought the same. Now its Bank Craps and the house takes all the action, but the rules of dice rotation persist.
