Complete noob question here but I can't really find why this is. So i understand that the odds bet is even which makes it very appealing but if I'm betting the pass line and the point is established on the 4 or 10 i don't understand why I push to max odds which is 3x on most tables? I don't understand what I'm missing? The chances that the shooter hit a 4 before the 7 are awful so why would you want to triple up on it even at 0% house edge?

i do understand what i am not missing
does THAT help you out?
Quote: v14

The chances that the shooter hit a 4 before the 7 are awful

they are not awful, that is silly talk words
3 ways to win and only 6 ways to lose
win rate = 33.33% and they are paid "double for the trouble" of making the bet
Quote: v14

so why would you want to triple up on it even at 0% house edge?

cuz after 9 million such bets,
(25% chance the established point is a 4 or a 10, but not both at the same time), 6 million of them lose
so 6 million * 3units = 18 million units lost!
Hot dog!

Sally Cool says
3 million win (9 million * 1/3)
so 3 million * 6units (on a win Yahoo!) = 18 million units won!
Hot HOT Dog!
only 1 win gives us a profit after 9 million such bets
the odds bets rule cuz of that, btw

no other craps bet can make that claim
or clam even even odd 9 million bets

some say for (fur) fun and entertainment and the possibility of winning real money $$$$$$

but really,
actually Katy Perry gambles when she licks acorns (a major sin for her)
but when Meghan Trainor licks an acorn, she just writes a new song as it is not a sin for her.

I feel their joy, even tho i due not totally understand the sin part
really yes
Meghan needs to stay away from all the deep-throat-stuff until she can actually not hurt herself when singing

now THAT sucks!

Because sometimes the shooter will throw another 4 or another 10. That's the simplest answer.

I had an unusual experience last week at Bellagio.

I held the dice and my point was 5. I was at a crowded $15 minimum bet table.

With the point of 5 I threw eight 10s. NO ONE at the table, including me, pressed the 10.

And then -- (wait for it) -- I was at a table at Caesars where the shooter threw 18 Elevens in a row. There were three of us at the table including the shooter, and none of us had a bet on the 11. (Usual crowd can now throw a tantrum over this.)

I do not have the math to prove, but my best estimate is that it is well within the realm of possibilities.

Why on earth would anybody fabricate such a thing!!
We've all seen rolls that are simply unexplainable (by either math or prayer) that are simply beyond the realm of normal, and yet they happen?

Saw a gent recently hit 6-10's in a row (three of which were hardways. On his eighth roll, he hit another hard-10 (guess I'm lying too!)

hahaha
a nice jewish boy like Alan may believe every-thing he thinks he sees (and remenbers)
to be all truth
He is on meds, so he claims

I would rather trust the words from another nice jewish boy like Meyer Lansky (not his real given name)
“We’re bigger than U.S. Steel”

By October 1959 all of them had fled Cuba, losing everything.
This IS the best one for you history buffs

"I crapped out"
said Lanksy of his Cuban adventure
(he should know as Lansky operated the most fair and honest craps games in the world)
*****
i thought all jewish boys were good with numbers and $$$, well Alan is the Moneyman, as they are supposed to be taught from a very early age
*****
so i conclude that Alan "plays the part" of looking and acting like a ploppy
in other words

he is an actor, just playing a part
like Frank Sinatra, a singer who acted in movies
but not like Karen Carpenter, a drummer who also sang

lis, my take onnit was demango was just trying to be funny...and speaking for myself he succeeded!...i laughed...and almost, but not quite, out loud...knowing a little bit about the credibility of the orignal poster ('moneyLA", lol) played into it a bit i admit...but i didnt realize it was demango's reply, whom i know slightly (craps forums only), until after reading your response...this solidified my belief that his was merely an attempt at humor: the child-like nature of the wording, the unsubtle complexion of the phrase, a little sarcasm maybe, a little facetiousness maybe, a little satire, a little can't-quite-put-your-finger-on-it shading (often the case with humor), maybe more--------all nuances that are only very difficultly wrought in text-based media like public forums, where misunderstandings are particularly rife)...

OTOH maybe YOU were trying to be facetious too!...in which case i missed it...difficultly wrought communications indeed!...

Yeah, Money LA can lump it together with the "cursed" craps table, the one with a spooky amount of fours and tens, on his list of Caesars craps oddities.

(1/18) to the 18th power is what? C'mon Sally, don't get lazy on us!

The calculation was done before, something with 26 zeros or so behind it. Made all the Vegas Papers. People were talking for months about how they could have made so much if they were only there. Then it came out in another Scoblete book. He admitted it was The Captain, sans crew.

Regarding the looting: with only $1,000 in I started hitting on a $25 VP machine then got a $100,000 royal. Called my son to drive up -- gave him $3,000 and he hit the $5 VP progressive at Bellagio for $26,000+ Photos on my forum including photo of my $90,000 check from Caesars.

Play enough and you see crazy things like 18 yo's in a row.

Play enough and you hit Royals quickly.

Play enough and father and son can hit royals the same night. Here's one more: about ten years ago my son and I sat next to each other and we both got royals a few seconds apart. Mine was at $1 and his was at $2.

Stuff happens. No matter what the math says.

A friend and I were playing the $5 40/10/6 DDB at Motorcity back in 2012 when he hit 4 aces for $4000. While he was waiting to get paid, I one upped him and hit the AWAK for $10k.

On a side note, the very first time he played that there, he got the royal within ten minutes as I was playing TCP.

By the way, I am still struggling with BofA to clear the check. $5,000 was cleared last night. The other $85,000 won't be cleared till Friday. Some concern about "online casinos."

Unless you absolutely need the cash right now, I see no big deal on the wait. Although their explanation is a little suspect. They know CP isn't an online casino. And even if it was, online gambling is legal in Nevada.

Most banks (even within their separate branches) today have warped interpretations of the newer money-laundering laws. It's absurd that there's NOT an across-the-board policy/interpretation!

In early 2015 banking rules (restrictions) were even implemented preventing deposits in other peoples accounts (regardless of relationship).

Hey Alan,
In 2014 I deposited CASH in multiple siblings accounts (different banks than my own), and across different banks.

In mid-2015 I attempted to make a CASH deposit in a siblings account and was told that because of the law implemented in March 2015 (money-laundering) that I could not do so.

After questioning the rule with the manager, I was offered a solution that allowed the deposit absent a deposit receipt (risky venture).

FWIW, as per most banks deposit slips, it shouldn't really be an issue unless your attempting to retain cash from the deposit.
In some instances banks will suggest using 'for deposit only'. However these days, even that decades-old-procedure comes into question/interpretation.

Yes, the check is endorsed "for deposit only." No cash back. They still question it, but I point out it's his pay check and that usually works. But they do comment that deposits in another person's account is frowned upon.

Why not direct deposit?

Somebody needs to man up [not us], and refuse to make any of their payments until the bank accepts deposits? Personally I'm waiting for the day. I figure it will take the bank a year to foreclose on my house. I know, poor guys thinking, but fun. : )

Sheesh Alan!
Spend a couple hundred of those gambling dollars on a laser printing and then get some checks pre-made for the laser printer. Quill in Chicago (although they are a bit pricey compared to chains) offers anything imaginable.
I'm sure Avery even offers checks and templates.

You guys don't understand how the Infomercial business works. All the revenue is collected by one company and that company sends out three checks: one to me, one to my son, and one to the TV station or group of stations that broadcasts the Infomercials. Who the neck needs a laser printer, or anything else fancy? Heck, my business cards cost $9.95 thru Vista Print. LOL

Very sweet wins, Alan! I have had BofA (banked with them for nearly 20 years, quit them in protest 2012 over their sudden and huge fee increase) hold large checks/drafts from insurance companies, casinos, and even their own mortgage department after I sold a house, so I'm not at all surprised they put a long hold on your check. My experience has been it was fraud protection, allowing for the check to have issues further down the clearing process if it was going to; and the protection was for both your benefit and (primarily of course) for the bank.
If the House lost every hand, they wouldn't deal the game.
