I don't play craps, don't know how to. I am throwing a birthday party for a friend. When having a table top for craps, there will be no edging on the table as if it were a real table at a casino, how do players use the dice if they can't be thrown???? I really have no idea. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

You could roll them out of a cup or play Card Craps.

card craps can be slower and is annoying to some....

More realistic is to have a professional layout of unrolled felt (full size if possible) or half table with a constructed box for the dice to be thrown against.... see online gambling supply stores or even rent equipment and dealers from a Party Games firm in your area.

I put a second to using a cup. Rigging something up to make a wall behind the layout sounds like it will be more hassle than it is worth. OTOH, if you want to do this you could just get an empty cardboard box, put some heavy items in it, and put it at the end of the table for the "wall." I might suggest go to the liquor store and get 1-2 empty boxes they use for booze, they would be the perfect size. Put some bags of sugar or whatever inside them.

Just tell the players not to get out of hand when they throw at the wall. If you have any newbies you might want to practice yourself before the party and get the bugs out. Good luck and enjoy.

you can go to a UHaul or other moving rental place. They sell an inexpensive roll of corrugated cardboard that's about 15" wide and about 10' long. buy that, unroll it around one end of the table (cover 2 table corners so it's stable and provides a double corner) straight up and duct tape it from underneath; a couple points at the table end and each cardboard end would hold it for 1 night's play. you can wrap/drape it in one of your wife's tablecloths if you want it to look nice and have a dampening effect on the dice.
If the House lost every hand, they wouldn't deal the game.

They could just play "street craps" or blanket craps ala ww2/Scarne. It doesn't have to be bank craps, get Sally in there to fade.

Heck, I used to use the bottom of my laundry basket (turned on its side) when we would mess around with the family. Put a felt on the dining room table, use custom chips and the bottom of the laundry basket. Great fun.

I stumbled on this website. Craps Mat and they have some pages on home craps games. Ive actually played on that layout at a friend's house a couple of weeks ago. It was fun.

For what it's worth
