I would like to enter a craps tournament...but I can't find any information on any tournament....at all.

Where are they? When are they? How do I enter?

I am so freakin' good at craps, I just want to enter a tournament. :)

from the research I have done in the past, it's purely luck. the winners are those who bet big on the hardways/hop bets/etc and hit them. strategy/skilled players simply don't have enough time to slowly accumulate chips and catch up.

but if you're interested and close enough, I think firekeepers in battle creek Michigan is having one 4/26 (if I remember right).

Thanks.

Michigan is a little far for me.

Anyone else know of any? Or where to find out?

How do craps tournaments work? Is it like blackjack where there are a set number of rolls in a round?

I think the one I did was timed. It wasn't as much fun as I thought it was going to be. I did cash though. Bought in for $50, won $60, lol.

The ones I've been in have been timed. Everybody starts each round with an equal number of chips. Usually at 5 minutes or so to go, they do a rough estimate of how many chips each person has so you know where you stand and who you have to catch. For whatever reason they almost always require a line bet by every player, whether you are the shooter or not. Sometimes there are maximums and sometimes there is no max bet limit.

The dice start in the corner next to the base dealer on the right side of the stick and move like normal (same shooter until 7-out) so there's a good chance you won't even get to touch the dice. They take the top X from each table and move them on to the next round, and at the final table the top Y people finish in the money. The majority of the times the winners I've seen have just dumped as much as possible into the field for a few rolls and doubling-quadrupling and just sitting pretty.

Mine didn't require a line bet. But I think there was a max on some of the props, so you didn't just throw it all on 2, 3, 11, 12 on the last roll to win.

Is there any truth to the idea that a lot of people in craps tournaments start out with a "bet it all on the field" bet in order to gain an advantage over other players who do not do the same (under the obvious risk of losing it all, of course)? Some of the people who taught me the game told me that, but with a HE >5%, that seems a little insane.

What, exactly do you mean when you say you are "freakin' good at craps?"

Do you claim to control the dice in any way?

Have you come up with a good way to cheat?

Otherwise, WTF could you POSSIBLY do to overcome the HA against you?

Craps is a pretty easy game to figure out; it ain't rocket science.

Card counting / AP requires effort, memory, skill: craps only requires a pulse and some chips.

I'm genuinely curious to see how you'll respond.

I challenged Mission to a coin flipping contest when he was in Vegas

he backed out, after I said I take 5% commission for winning.

good thing it wasn't even money, the dude has been practicing coin control!

Timed eh?

That seems like a horrible way to do it. Then it truly is a "crap" shoot. I would love to enter a tournament that was based on a number of dice rolls...like 1000 or something.
