I am "new to craps" and was told that the single roll bets are red color on the layout and multiroll bets are white. Is this correct ? If so, why are hopb bets yellow and horn high bets are yellow. Also, is a come bet consideted a single roll bet (red ) ?
Learned Craps in 2013 .... Developed and have a PATENT on Craps "Back On Bet" side bet ... Working on Craps game variations hope to have patents in 2018 - Second Chance Craps and Sub-Crap-tion ... A completely new dice game idea is next - D.. Dice D......

That's a simple rule of thumb that probably applied to the table you were playing on. Rather than spending several minutes identifying each & every single-roll bet on the table, the person probably told you this since it's the "simple" answer.

All of the prop bets (other than the Hardways) are single-roll bets. So is the Field.

Many people would advise you to stay away from such bets because of the high House Advantage on most of them.

You probably had a lazy dealer or you asked your question at a very busy time of play.

Color layouts and color of dice is usually open to the casino's choice.

A pass line bet is placed between two white lines and usually the words "pass line" are in white. Same with the Come Bet. Each bet is a Contract Bet and can not be removed or reduced until it is resolved which might be done with one roll or, if the players are very lucky, several rolls.

The hardways and proposition bets and on some layouts the hop bets will often be red bordered but its usually solely tradition.

Planet Hollywood at one time had the weirdest color combination between layout and dice... the crews spoke up and were ignored; then the accountants spoke up and were not ignored!

Colorado once forced a casino to change the shade of green on its roulette wheel to match the shade that was on the layout, but usually regulators don't care much about colors and some times crews struggle.
