I will be at a casino which offers craps with a three dollar minimum and ten times odds.

Seems like good conditions to try a play I've been mulling over.

Make a three dollar line bet every roll of the dice; start with two times odds.

Load up on come bets; cover the board if possible.

Every time a bet wins, add a unit or two to the odds.

I would start out at three dollars each, with low odds.

That way a quick seven out won't be too catastrophic.

Once come bets are all set, if a number hits I tell the dealer to "go up one unit (or two units) on the odds" and if the number repeats, increase the odds again, hopefully up toward the ten times max after 4 or so hits on the same number.

If the roll really takes off, I'd increase the come bet amount and the odds bets proportionally.

Hope for the best.

Then again, I could just bet $32 across and alternate between same bet and press.

Exactly.
I've been at a casino that offered $2 craps with 5x odds...
Start out with $2/1x PassLine
Continues ComeBets $2/1x
When a ComeBet hits, put the very next ComeBet up with $2/2x
Another ComeBet hits, put the very next up with $2/3x
I've lost $100 QUICKLY countless times with this method.

I usually take max odds right away -- and usually lose everything playing that way.

The usual advice is to always do max odds. Your odds bet affects your remaining bankroll so if luck is against you on the flat bet it will be against you in spades on your odds bet. And if your luck is with you on your flat bet it will be making you very happy that you immediately went to max odds. The fact of win or loss on the flat bet is not changed by making an odds bet.

Sure there will be PSOs but there are also times when the shooter establishes a point and then immediately comes right back and rolls that same point number again. Why would you want 1x odds to be working in a situation like that?

I follow the same strategy*, and have experienced a lot of positive variance over my craps career. Just to provide a counterpoint, not trying to rub it in :).

Seriously though, odds bets are 0% house edge. I really hate to see people throwing more and more money on the felt to satisfy their need for action, while they have nothing or very little on odds.

*I guess technically I usually take 3-4-5x odds no matter where I'm playing.
