Thanks so much for the feedback about playing 5 hands simultaneously.

1) Why is a casino more likely to allow a player to play 5 hands simultaenously with a 2 deck game rather than a 6-deck shoe game? Is it because with a 2 deck game there will only be about 50% penetration (if that), whereas with the 6 deck shoe game there will be about 65-70% penetration or so?

2) Also, I'm assuming with a double-deck game, the cards will be dealt to me face down. Would it be awkward or cumbersome to play five hands simultaneously with face down cards?

I mostly suggested the 2 deck hand-dealt game because they really wouldn't care if you left after 1 or 2 hands - they shuffle very often anyway.

Playing 5 hands face down would be harder than playing 5 hands face up, but I wouldn't think it would be more cumbersome for the house than if there were 5 players. You, however, will have to physically move to reach all 5 hands. I guess this might be a reason to play in a shoe game isntead.

Whenever I play more than one hand (2 is my max) that were dealt face down at a double deck game, I had to play each hand one at a time. i.e. I could not look at each hand and then decide how to play 1st hand. in fact they always "tucked" the second hand's cards under the chips I bet. The exception is if dealer has Ace up, then you can check all hands for insurance purposes.

So if playing 5 hands, you want to see the hands, I think you may need a face up shoe game.
