Has anyone seen this so-called "strategy" that this guy "Lucky Ned" uses?
http://filthycritic.com/vegas/luckybj.html

One thing that he says that he always does is split pairs no matter what (including fives like he emphasizes and tens). For the Wizard, if you don't mind figuring it out, how much would it cost in EV for someone who always splits every pair that he/she gets?

I love Lucky Ned! It is a very funy site and shouldn't be taken seriously. I'm sure there are members here who would get a kick out of Lucky Ned's IncrediSystem for Roulette. Sorry but I have no clue on the EV of always splitting.

Having studied the mighty wisdom of mrjjj, I can see how Lucky Ned has made his billions over the years. And to think I've been wasting all this time working for a living.

Using the infinite-deck model for H17, no surrender, and resplit all pairs to 4 hands except aces, I get an EV of -7.4% for Lucky Ned's strategy if he plays basic strategy otherwise. Most of the damage to his EV is done by splitting and resplitting 10's; if he stood on the 20 instead of splitting, my result for his EV is -1.5%.

I'll drink to that! Some of my favorite quotes from Lucky Ned's site:

First off, never bet the 14. That little bastard will just break your heart.

I say SCREW IT! A THINKING ROULETTE PLAYER IS A LOSING ROULETTE PLAYER!

DID YOU KNOW THAT YOU CAN BET ON THE TWO GREEN NUMBERS? IT'S TRUE! I just learned this last week.

RANDOM MY ASS! If roulette is so random, how come I'm always such a big winner?

Let's face it, you won't win every time, YOU'LL ONLY WIN ALMOST EVERY TIME.

A good roulette wheel has a green zero and a green double zero. Some of the casinos are now trying to make wheels with only a single zero. If the casino you are at has only one green spot GET THE HELL OUT! More zeros mean more choice and MORE CHOICE MEANS MORE WAYS TO WIN!!

You can bet on any number on the wheel, no matter what color. If it hits, they will pay you loads and loads of chips. I can't remember how many, but I think it has to do with the number. Like, a 31 will pay a lot more than a 14. If you want to play numbers, make sure to bet the high numbers.

And, my personal favorite quote from Lucky Ned:

NOTE TO ADVANCED PLAYERS: You can still play even when you feel you are going to be unlucky. Just bet the opposite of everything you would have otherwise bet.

It's amazing they even let Lucky Ned pass through the door. Definitely my kind of guy!

I like where he says he's been physically removed from casinos because he won every chip the dealer had. Pretty funny.
