You joined in december of 2015 (literally over 6 years ago) and haven't made 1 thread or 1 post and your first question is which is obvious better? =DQuote: jsvegasHello…played at Harrahs High Rollers Blackjack table the other night…2 tables…both 3:2…one was hit on soft 17..2 e other stand on 17 …4 deck …which one is better player edge?

Well, in any case, the wizard has a blackjack house edge calculator. Lots of plug and play options, have fun:

Stand 17 has less house edge. Neither has a player advantage as played with basic strategy.

Welcome back to the forum.
To the best of my.knowledge, Romes is a real player.
It is just mildly surprising to see someone return from a 7 year forum hiatus, but I suppose that if you didn't have questions to ask, not posting would make sense.
The edge calculators on WoO are pretty good. Be sure to note the strategy changes, and compare the penetration if that sort of thing is important. I think you may want to compare SCORE, not just HE.
But...
I lost, okay? How could you say "always"?
ROMES answered your question. A simple "Thank-you" would have been more appropriate.Quote: jsvegasThanks for your stupid answer…what does it matter how long ago I joined?…go back to your video games

Oh, right, you're just a supreme human being that is allowed to be super selfish and post things that can be found JOKE EASILY on the same site you posted on, but expect others to do it for you for some reason. Sorry I didn't jump all over helping you sooner since you've contributed zero to these forums other than showing just what type of person you are. Have a nice life.Quote: jsvegasThanks for your stupid answer…what does it matter how long ago I joined?…go back to your video games

On an internet forum, having other people respond to your requests and be helpful is NOT a right. It is a privilege. And such a privilege usually must be earned with some minimum standards of courtesy.
BTW, Romes is a well-known long-time member of our forum who has written how-to articles on card counting the game of blackjack. I have had some off-forum association with Romes and he has earned my respect on many levels many times over. I am proud that he is a member of WOV forum and grateful that he occasionally takes time from his busy life and tries to help people here who are genuinely asking for help.
And I know that Romes doesn't need me to defend him, but dammit, that needed to be said.

I know who he is, his contributions, have met him, and have several mutual acquaintances. I meant to be sarcastic, perhaps came off wrong. If Romes takes any offense to it, I apologize for that.
In this case it has no effect on my opinion, but if anything, you vouching for someone would lower my opinion of said person because of your “my shit don’t stink” way of carrying yourself. Go find a double amputee to vouch for. Good day or week or whatever comes.

I am married, so every day of my life I have someone who reminds me how un-special I am! Duly noted that you have an unfavorable opinion of me and no hard feelings on my part.
Uh, "thank-you" for raising the bar on the level of discourse here ?Quote: mcallister3200

Appreciate the kinds words Gordon. I wasn't too miffed, just the 1,000,000th person to think the world, and subsequently this forum, revolved around them =).

I have in the past, but it's been a while. We would pay for teams to drive to lan with us in Halo 1 as long as they played a min of $1k/game and a min of 3 games. Back before online play if people could beat everyone in their friends circle/town they just automatically thought they were one of the best in the world. Seriously amazing how many thousands we made and the games were total blowouts. We literally never lost a money match, but were apparently too content & stupid to lookup MLG (Major League Gaming) and go to real tourney's. Then the internet came along and humbled a lot of people (not from being trolls, but from betting money anyways).Quote: DieterQuote: DonutsClick the link - it's a close race 50% of people want Romes to switch careers and be a pro gamer.

...but my options of going pro gamer at this point are pretty slim, simply due to age and slowing reaction times. Maybe pro streamer? (had to throw that in to keep axel's excitement level up)

Do you remember Super Smash Melee pre-internet/streaming? Everyone thought they were the unbeatable if they could beat their friend group.
He came in 297th out of around 800. He came home crushed. He'd honestly thought he was the best in the world.
Oh even better, that's the only other console game we played people in for money... well the n64 super smash original anyways. Still play it randomly from time to time with my brother/friends now. Such a good game.Quote: DonutsQuote: RomesI have in the past, but it's been a while. My bad….must have woken up with a kink in my neck or something.
Geez, what do I have to do to get suspended around here…was counting on 7-30 days.
For whatever reason you just don’t vibe with some people and I tend to react when gordo moderates me or I perceive him as doing so, that’s on me to deal with better though.
