I stumbled onto this interview with Ed Thorpe, posted on January 20, 2017. It's part of NPR's "Planet Money". (I never knew that he went on to make millions in the stock market.) It's episode #749 "Professor Blackjack".

He has a new book out there called "A Man for All Markets." I have it on order. In it I think he reveals his trading strategy which I think is very complex.
