Quick, make blackjack even money and cut off 6/8 decks on the shoes; the counters must be winning... This will make us money!
Playing it correctly means you've already won.

The city is facing a partial shutdown on April 8. Workers will be paid with IOUs.

Good thing my meetings are on the 5th :/.
This really isn't that big of a surprise, unfortunately. As the article states, the loss of about half of the casino gaming revenue due to the casinos shutting down without injecting additional sources of tax revenue isn't something that can be ignored in hopes of it correcting itself.
The interesting question is what realistically can be done to fix this...

Atlantic City is on the verge of joining Puerto Rico in default this weekend:
“Atlantic City has so little money left that it could miss a $1.8 million bond payment due Sunday, a step that would make it the first New Jersey municipality to default on debt since the Great Depression. . . .
“Its direct debt, meanwhile, soared to $240 million, larger on a per capita basis than either Detroit’s or Chicago’s, according to Merritt Research Services LLC, a municipal-bond data provider.” --The roles of Chris Christie and Boyd’s Borgata.

Gee, d'ya think that they could get an experienced tycoon to pick up those three or four abandoned casinos and operate them or are they all too busy running for president?Quote: ernestmiddlePerhaps the city needs a new source of revenue. Like legalized gambling ?

No tycoon would take them over, maybe not even if they could buy for $1. The bluehairs no longer need to leave PA, where 80% of the business always came from. The goose died of starvation.

Have fond memories of A.C. Not just BJ. Other Stuff. Got some legendary lapdances (before I was married.) I'm not an expert but I think A.C. was a leader in developing the lapdance.

Maybe if they change to EVEN MONEY blackjack shuffled EVERY hand then they could entice those players from PA back over??? I mean, I just hear that PA has state wide rules of Stand 17 and Surrender... Shouldn't take much to get them all coming back, right?

It's not just the Blackjack rules.
PA casinos are fresh, good looking modern facilities with free parking, better crowds and safer locations.
Three PA casinos are also closer to NYC than the AC casinos.

I gotta say one thing I love about western PA casinos are their poker seats. They are soft and comfy. I played at Bally's last year and the chairs reminded me of something I would sir on in a mechanics waiting area.
Expect the worst and you will never be disappointed.
