hi I had a question about Spanish 21. for a 6 deck payout for marching the dealer is it smart to bet $5 on each hand knowing that the payout is 4-1 for a match and 9-1 for a suited match?

Sure, if you enjoy the side bet for $5 and a 3% house edge doesn't bother you.

From a card counting perspective, it is not a worthy enough side bet to consider in Spanish 21.

No, it's not smart. Why would the casino offer a bet you could actually win at straight up? Side bets always carry a hefty house edge, and the more you play, the more you increase that house edge. Sure you might hit one or two more because you're playing every hand, but what most don't realize is you're losing wayyy more often too.
Playing it correctly means you've already won.
