I do not think he is playing a breakeven game with the "speed count," even if he were doing it 100 percent accurately. Given his emotional state, I am sure he is not doing the speed count 100 percent accurately, as well.
He wont be happy unless he gets it back. Every moment he is away from the tables he will be thinking of the tables. He will be dwelling on the losses and want to get it back. I would only suggest he play something with a better %. If not just leave town until next time or just stop playing this trip period. Thinking a new day will change anything is bad thinking. Everything could repeat and you could end up losing double what you were already upset about.Quote: sodawaterAce should stop because he is clearly not enjoying himself.
Ace is not playing with a positive expectation. He is playing with a negative expectation, hence he is purchasing recreation from the casino. It makes no sense to buy entertainment that is making you unhappy.
Obviously taking breaks is a good thing if it keeps one from going on tilt. Even then tilting could result in a big win or big loss.
Even good poker players will often go on tilt, play a few bad hands, win a few big pots, then get back to good poker.

Really sorry to read this Mission146. Sounds like a tough situation for all involved. I hope things work out as well as they can for everyone.

My wife lost her job 7 months back due to downsizing while she was pregnant, we just had our 2nd child, her unemployment ended 2 weeks ago, Our newborn is only a few weeks old so she can't get a job right now, we just qualified for WIC but I make too much for food stamps or medical assistance so we are both without insurance because even the obamacare is too expensive for us. There is a casino that I can vulture UX but right now can't take the risk with gas money since it is 20 miles away and others are vulturing already.
ACE you need to get over it. Losing 10k is making you sound suicidal and depressed. You are leaving out that you are eating well, staying in a nice suite, on vacation from a great paying job and you are acting like this is the end of the world. You need to try and live in some of our lives and you will understand what living tough really is.
Why have not you become like Ace?
You are young, good looking, good job, work in the best city on the planet, are able to take nice vacations and have some disposable income to play with.......
The problem I see here is that perhaps you are getting addicted to the thrill of winning. It seems like winning has come pretty easily in the past and now that you have a continuous losing streak going, you don't know how to handle it. Remember the down swings are absolutely normal. If you play blakcjakc or any other game for an extended period then you will lose money, albeit through variance or just the HE.
Here is what I think you should do. Give up gambling for now. It is not fun anymore when you want to hurt yourself or feel so depressed that you don't know what your next move should be. Just quit for a while, not for a day or two, for 6 months to a year. Head outside and feel the hot desert air blow over you, take a deep breath and live inside that moment. Then, go out and have a good meal. THere are many top restaurants around your area. Allow yourself to break your "one drink rule" and have two or three. Speak to some people out and about. Take control of your life and enjoy your vacation for the location that you are in. You aren't in a gambling mecca, you are in an entertainment mecca.........
You are better than any addiction and you are better than any woman who has left you............all you have to do is prove this to yourself and you will be just fine!!!
Wish I was there to hit the town with you bud!!!!
Stop, cold, turkey

Yes I am acting as such and FYI I do not eat when I am losing...
Additionally--this is a gambling forum and whining about losses regardless of lifestyle....is par for the course...yes, I get very depressed over losses due to my extremely competitive nature.
As for a high paying job...nope...I own my own business...if business is bad, the expenses are still there...student loan debt...business credit lines...so if I go three months without a client, I am SOL

I tend to punish myself by not eating...seeing shows...or even going up in the High Roller and seeing a show that I had planned...I feel that my losing has made me unworthy of pleasure.
Only a desperate man or a degenerate gambler bets money he cannot afford to lose, and you seem a smart, pretty savvy guy, so I suspect that you are just venting and not really going to step in front of a bus.
*note to aos: spare us the suicidal threats, it is unnerving*
You play black chips, so I have to assume that losing ten grand is no big deal: it shouldn't be to a player at your level.
If it really is a big deal you've got no business playing at that level.

You should take the opposite view. By losing, you really "earned" those comps the casinos are giving you.
Seriously, you treat losing as if it's a moral failure. That is crazy. Losing streaks are a part of blackjack. If you're going to play blackjack you should be able to handle losing streaks. To deny yourself pleasure because you are experiencing an ironclad mathematical fact of the game is unhealthy and absurd.
If you're losing, take some time to have a nice free meal and see a nice show. Not only will it make you feel better, but it's -EV not to use those freebies your play has earned.

None of the other comments on this thread by you or anybody else phased me except for this one.....your life is not attached to your gambling successes. You are a successful man without the gambling, it is merely a form of entertainment.
Take the 10k loss as a wake up call and just STOP!!!
Enjoy the rest of your time in Vegas ace!

You probably dont want to hear it, but the High Roller is actually relaxing..even more so with a Dogfish 90 Minute (Sold at the entrance) in your hand.
Please try it and dont punish yourself.

What is a Dogfish 90 minute?
Ok just googled it
I've never had a beer in my life (true)

A wonderful beer from Delaware.

Seriously, why don't you take a break and when you back to blackjack.....look ONLY at your own hand and the dealer's up card. Don't watch the other players. See how that goes for awhile.

I've been down on many trips. But I've been up more. If I say to myself, "if I were to lose $1,500 would I still have a good time because I brought it to them, then I enjoy playing. If I can't say that I try not to play.

There's no better reason to find pleasure elsewhere!!!
1.) Go gorge yourself at a buffet.
2.) Find yourself a Super Times Pay machine for nickels, play three-handed betting $0.90/game. It would take forever to lose your minimum Blackjack bet. You may not know Optimal Strategy for the game, but screw it, $100 is a drop in the bucket for you. Enjoy some free drinks, get friggin' plastered and play Video Poker.
3.) ???
Just do that and stay away from Blackjack for one day. Pro Tip: If you can name the first and last names of your three most recent clients, you're not doing it right!!!
Get a good rest, go for a walk, then drive the Red Rocks loop.
Be Here Now.
Then...regroup and play some more when I am relaxed
You have given Aria a ton of play. You won't get much different in comps if you take a break and check out some action at another strip place for a bit. A change of scenery could be just what you need. And, if you get on a mini heater, you may have another hotel wanting your action in a bad way.
Always nice to have options.

Or you can get 90 Minute at the Quad catalyst bar for "free". I mostly bet 1 quarter a hand there slowly at 7/5 Triple Bonus Plus (97.67% max; 96.42% 1-4 coin) and they don't care what level you are betting with a standard tip. Ace could obv afford a max bet at quarters instead though. Probably had $50 of "comped" Dogfish Head 90 minute last trip...maybe more...definitely lost less than $50 at the Quad.
Love Dogfish 90 minute. Wish Missouri sold it... :(
But if Ace is not much of a drinker...I don't recommend he start either.
