Quote: mickeycrimmAl is an incredibly strong player. I met him at the Stardust in 2000. The first time I seen him in action was when he showed up in Reno in 2002. He flat ran over the 4-8 Omaha 8 game at the Cal Neva. Tells are highly overrated in limit poker. Bluffing, as a singular strategy, is weak. Poker is about getting the right price and giving your opponents the wrong price. Al is just very good at it.
I never met the guy, but I will bet Al is one of the most likeable guys at the table. He has to be for the same guys to keep losing to him. When I was hustling pool, guys would walk past games they could win at, just to give their money to me. I never dogged it or layed down, but I might slam the 9 against some players until they were convinced I was just lucky. And if a chump was stuck and wanted to raise the stakes, or play double or nothing, I never refused. What the hell, it was his money anyway. If he won, so be it.

If you lost the first couple matches on purpose, you would be the shark in basically every 80s and 90s sitcom pool episode ever.
There were always poker, pool, and generic casino episodes. Pool always had seedy people and the shark who lost on purpose at first. Poker episode always had rediculous string bets and incredible luck. Casino always had MASSIVE swings...usually at the craps table. You win 20 in a row...the entire casino is cheering you on...then something fucks up your roll and you proceed to go broke. I love it.
Every time somebody needed a hit man, arsonist, a clean gun, etc, they would shoot that scene in a poolroom. Henry would throw a Dr Pepper bottle at the TV set, LOL
