Mixed in here in AC with the Video Poker machines are some video blackjack machines - the rules actually look good (see photo).
Can anyone quantify the House Edge for this game?

Another catch is that a lot of these machines will only let you bet either one credit or everything you've got in the machine, so surrender (as well as insurance) is a phantom.
I've found these things are good for "washing" free slot play or for putting in playthrough for a promotion, if not excluded in either case. The edge isn't bad for slots, and you're less likely to be faced with an extended downswing than in "real" slots or even VP.

The trick to poker is learning not to beat yourself up for your mistakes too much, and certainly not too little, but just the right amount.

Blackjack should pay 7.5 to 5. Also, stay away from the BJ games that offer 6-5 for blackjack.
Vegas strip rules give the house edge about .4% before AP. Not hard to overcome but few capable of dicipline.

My thinking the game was good was based on my interpretation of blackjacks paying 2 to 1 (I thought it would be a $2 payout in addition to original $1 bet) - so, I realize now that is incorrect so my thinking the game was good is no longer valid

Oh - as for what the edge is, I seem to recall you can't double after a split on these, and I think you can resplit up to three but not four. I used the Wizard's calculator, multiplied the difference between 3:2 and 6:5 by 5/3, and added the 3:2 edge to get a total of 2.90%. So yeah, about on par with the field bet, or single-zero roulette (without imprisonment), or sic bo. Not bad for slots, if you must play slots.
If you can size your bets so the surrender option is practical, if you can double after a split, etc., it probably doesn't matter much - the lowest the edge is going to be will be about 2.3% due to the even-money blackjacks.

Shed not for her
the bitter tear
Nor give the heart
to vain regret
Tis but the casket
that lies here,
The gem that filled it
Sparkles yet

"Pays X for Y" is not the same as "Pays X to Y."
"X for Y" means for every Y in, you get X out. You put $10 in, you get $20 out.
"X to Y" is a ratio, you get X/Y times Y, plus you get to keep Y. You put $10 in, you get $15, on top of your original $10.
