I think it's funny that after all these years (20 or so?), IGT still uses the same song for a handpay jackpot.

I've yet to hear that song on real casino play—one day…

That tune is hardwired into my brain. I haven't heard it for a while, but when I do, my brain releases a flood of endorphins.

don't want to sound jaded but IMHO posting jackpots is a horrible thing to do
it looks like casino advertising
it doesn't prove anything
nobody knows that you didn't lose 5 times as much before you hit the jackpot

when it comes to gamblers and their stories about big wins I follow the advice in the lyrics of the old soul song "I Heard it through the Grapevine."

"𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐬𝐚𝐲 𝐛𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐯𝐞 𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐟 𝐨𝐟 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐬𝐞𝐞

The demented aspect is that I enjoy the YouTube channels in which the player uploads a video from when they lose their entire buy in. It makes the videos when they actually do win feel more exciting.

And sometimes they even get told to stop recording, which is funny because the casino is discouraging free advertising.

Full disclosure then. I was down about $36,987 for the year before I hit the $240,000. Yes that would have made this the worst year of my life gambling which was preceded by the best year, last year, of about positive 46k. Would I have gone down almost 37k without having won so much last year? No way. I would have run out of funds long ago. But since I have no dependants I saw no reason to not go all out again. And I was saved by a miracle hit. For whatever reason I keep chugging along. Right now I'm looking at a huge tax bill. So I figure, f-it I'll go all out rest of this year. If i lose 40 or 50k then that's 15-20k less in taxes i have to pay to the government. Not quite a loss rebate but at this point I'm not sure it matters.

If someone were to Chronicle the ups and downs I have had the last 2 years gambling no one would believe it. I have had so many redemptions these last 2 years I barely believe it.

I do like to see if big jackpots are posted from some casinos on youtube. if you can't find anyone posting any videos of big jackpots from a certain casino isn't that possibly useful information?

Yeah, it could be a super strict filming restriction, but usually someone can sneak some camera work if they don't make it obvious.
There's no secret. Just know what you're talking about before you open your mouth.

MGM National Harbor has communication issues with its slot machines from time to time. If I hit a jackpot they are suppose to see it on a handheld device and the attendant comes to you. The day before I hit one on this machine and they did not see it right away. After I hit the 4980 the machine messed up and went down. When I went back today the payables were changed to the crappier versions. There are only 2 left with the good payables.

was this in the high limit room?
from my testing, the good vp machines in the mgmnh high limit room (ie: 9/6 JoB) are $35 coin-in = 1 point = 8tc.
on the 2nd floor, 9/6 ddb is $20 coin in = 1 point = 8tc.

where are the other 2 dstp 9/6 ddb machines located?

The 2 remaining good all star 2's are in the high limit room.

5 of the 6 all star 2's on the second level are the crappy ones. The 6th one was one they must have moved from high limit when they rearranged all the machine layouts in high limit. Originally when they first opened there was 4 good machines. Two of them seemed to crash with some regularity. Eventually one was removed. The 3rd one which also had issues with low ram was moved upstairs. I'm guessing my excessive play on it exacerbated its memory issues because I tend to play fast hitting max bet after draw to speed up the cards. When it crashed on me yesterday there was a long pause then it rebooted. The same thing happened to me earlier this year when there was still all 4 good machines in high limit.

Weird thing is I think the reprogramming of the 6th machine might have either been a mistake, they thought it should match the other 5 machines it sat next to. Or, and I think this is more likely, they just replaced the entire machine with another unit. Reason I think this is more likely is they had it up and running in about 18 hours. When these machines had there low non volatile ram error issues it would take several days before they would fix it. Less than a day, I think the whole machine was replaced. I think they have extra machines in storage because they use to have many more all star 2 machines when they first opened than what is on the floor now.

The ones in high limit are $35 per point. Also, the good 9/6 DDB some of which are upstairs are $35 per point.

I know at my platinum level it works out to about $26.20 per point. On the machines themselves it will show your session point total which does correspond to $35 per session point as displayed on the machine. However, when doing things like trying to earn 125 points via a kiosk game that is where your tier multiplier kicks in and platinum the $35 per point becomes about $26.20 per point.

for upstairs, if the machine doesn't have 9/7 db, then the 9/6 ddb is $20 coin-in for 1 point.
if it does have 9/7 db, then all games on that machine is $35 coin-in = 1 point. :(

I did not know Platinums had a tier multiplier.
thought the +30% was just for comps?
(I just turned Platinum in August but haven't played yet during mgm's new tier year oct-sept.)

I also did not see a dstp 9/6 ddb on the 2nd floor. i'll look again the next time im there.

You won't find it anymore. It's the one I broke and they either replaced it or reprogrammed it to match the other 5 all star 2's.

As far as tier points, the multiplier I speak of pertains to points earned for promotions. They did have z 3x tier multiplier running for a month or 2 Sunday thru Thursday I think it was. I'm never too concerned about tiers as I play for entertainment and not what they offer me.

And speaking of offers, sometimes I get 2 free complimentary nights which can only be used on 3 specific days, like Monday thru Wednesday. I find it amusing to get such a gracious offer for such a limited time. As of today I have I have $2,695,500,50 coin in at National Harbor this year.. And they just put me back to $55 a week in freeplay. I know I'm playing at much higher coin in rate these last 2 months but jeez, $55.....really?

Last year I did 2.08 million coin in and my best weekly offer was $55 a week in freeplay. Funny thing is I thought after last year I would not do that much this year and I blew past it. Just like I thought I would never have as good a year as last year too. Moral is dont ask me for predictions.

for 2 mil coin in I hope you get some other perks. I don't know much about mgm but if you did that at cet and had 7 stars there are some nice perks.

If by perks you mean greasy pizza slices for $5.75 a slice or $32 for a whole pizza (thats not a typo, thirty two dollars for a suasuge and pepperoni pizza )and greasy no matter what kind of topping, then yes, I had plenty of perks. The one time I splurged and got a whole pizza, it was stuck to the box by the time I brought it home (20 minute drive) It is so overpriced at every shop.

On a related note, they have a Starbucks but it is not 24 hours. I think it closes at 1 or 2 am. If I were a Starbucks fanatic and wanted one at 3 in the morning I would be pissed. All food court closes at 11pm with the exception of greasy pizza place and an overpriced deli which both close at 6am.

The entire food management mentality needs to be overhauled there. I dont know how they expect to entice people to eat there with overpriced food that might not even be available when you want to eat it.

Now, the ice cream place is closed Monday thru Wednesday because I guess no one eats ice cream on those days. If I want to spend $10 of my comps for a 3 scoop cone on a Tuesday night I'm shit out of luck.

I'm told that with platinum status I can get 90% off top shelf liquor st the bars. Great, I dont drink. If I did I suppose that has value. But since it's probably way overpriced to start that 90% off may in fact be a lot less if I were to go buy the liquor at a store.

I'm currently st $374 in comps. My friend wants to eat at the fancy steak house. That place and the fish place use to have their menus posted outside with prices. As of a month ago when we went to see how many comps I would need for us the menus no longer had prices outside the restaurant. WTF!? Since they were closed at the time I said screw that.

I think the only reason why this place makes money is location location location. If another casino were to open up with 5 miles of it and is run just a little bit better they would be out of business.

These are all pet peeves of mine. They dont make me dislike it, just irritated to varying degrees depending on what situation arises.

As far as Horseshoe Baltimore and Maryland Live, both 40 minutes more of a ride for me, their video poker is awful. I dont care what perks they have. If a casino has a decent enough game I'll play there. If not, they dont get my money.

Forgot to mention 6 chicken wings cost $12. The sports bar had 8 for $16, so 2 bucks a wing is standard there. But whatever you do, dont get the steak and cheese at the sports bar. I bit into it and the grease poured out the other side onto my shirt and pants. That didn't upset as much as the price for wings though. But I have to burn my comps someplace.

The response was something like,"Casinos are wary about people filming in the Casino considering there have been reports of people using their filming devices to cheat the game "

How much tax did you pay on the mega hit $240,000 in your Avatar? :) Congratulations, that is the biggest win on a slot machine I have ever seen besides the woman who legitimately won 13 million in a slot machine. :)

Pre paying taxes not a good idea when I can collect interest on it until I have to pay on April 15th. Between state and federal it will probably be in the neighborhood of 40%. Of what dollar amount I won't know until January 1st. 10 days left in the year. I can still do damage one way or the other between now and then.

why not dstp 8/5 bp?

I played that a bit earlier in the year. Reason I don't like that is because when I would fall behind, which was often, it was near impossible to make a come back short of a royal.

DDB there are many quads combined with multipliers that can win a ton all at once. When I get behind several thousand, and that does happen at this game, I know I'm just one quad with a good multiplier away from making a comeback.

I have hundreds of pictures from playing this. I could post some of the more exotic ones.

I think I have 145 jackpots this year at just triple play dollar DSTP. 185 for the year overall. 3 from Vegas trip and the other 182 all from MGM National Harbor.

And that was when j didn't play for about 2 and a half months earlier in the year when I almost given up gambling for the year because I had lost most of what I won the previous year.

Funny how things work out sometimes.

Like, even a 2 multiplier would be super awesome.

Just make sure you pay 110% of your tax amount last year by 12/31 . . .

I haven't played Supertimes pay in awhile, but the last one I played only required 6 coins per hand. Never saw one requiring 7 per hand to activate multiplier

Double super times pay is a 6th coin for deal multiplier and 7th for draw multiplier.

congrats on ending the year on a high note!

and what did you mean "The next goal i need to hit is about 5.73 million (coin-in) to get my bonus free play. "
that was $140k coin-in more when you posted that.

what do you get?
and how do you know that is how much more you need?

I've posted before about the freeplay goal offers I have gotten over the past year. My current offer I received was for earning 20,000 slot points I earn $2,500 in free play. I had from December 19 thru January 1st to reach it. At platinum level 1 slot point equals $26.25. So 20,000 is $525,000. This is the third time I have gotten the offer in the last 3 months. I dont have the exact figures handy but I lost several thousand dollars on the first 2 offers including the freeplay won but more than made up for it on the 3rd offer. I am going back January 1st to collect freeplay in a new tax year. So that saves me on taxes this year and guarantees I start off 2019 ahead. When I try the freeplay offers I play 2 machines to get more coin in per hour but I go early in the morning when there are fewer players around. I do give up the second machine of someone asks but there are only 3 players that I gladly offer a machine to. 1 is that woman and the other 2 are nice gentleman who can carry a decent conversation.

I usually get the goal in 4 visits.

Oh, and many other players I have talked to get offers of varying levels. This is the highest offer I am aware of. I was worried there might be a higher one. Going all out for 4 visits is taxing especially playing early in the morning if I had to squeeze in more visits in a 2 week period it would wear me out.

your 2 vp machines in the high limit room are $35 coin-in = 1 point.
26.25/35 = 75%, so platinum is 25% bonus?

but mgm website says:
Platinum – Tier Multiplier: 30 percent bonus on points

?

Isn’t it the other way? $35 = 1.3 points (1 point plus 30% bonus). So 1 point should be $35 / 1.3 = $26.923

30% bonus. But I have clocked it at 500 slot points on the machine becoming 650 points towards the 20,000 on the promo. Compared it to mlife website that keeps track of coin in and it worked out go 26.25 per point. It might be a little more than that but I have done it twice and it came up to 26.25 both times.

I'll test it again if I get another offer by putting exactly 525,000 coin in as I think when I tried the second promo it was a little more than 525k. I didnt test it on the current one as when I check it the freeplay hits the account and I'm not exactly sure how long it lasts. I've heard 7 days and I've heard 30 days. Dont want to try with 2500 as I want to make sure it is there January 1st.

And it could be this way too. I will only know for sure if I get another promo near the end of January and am able to clock exactly 525k coin in.

All I know is 500 became exactly 650 and the website worked out to 26.25 per point which does seem to create a slight difference I cant explain.

if the machine had dstp 9/7 db (99.1% + .5% = 99.6%), would you play it?
bigger quad payouts than bp so still nice jackpots with multipliers to catch up but 1/3 less variance.

I might try it. But it does not have 97 db. 85 BP is best it has.
