My phone just rang. Never a good thing at 6:30 in the morning with the roads starting to get black ice and you know your son left for work at 5:30. It was him and he was so excited he could hardly speak. Bought a scratchoff on the way to work and finally got around to scratching it off at work. His words - I JUST WON TEN F****** THOUSAND DOLLARS!!!!!! He has been trying to pay off his truck and get a better mileage vehicle, so this couldn't come at a better time.

When I won $20,000 on a scratch off they took out $5,000 in tax. What was funny for me was I didnt have a checking account at the time (I have a savings account now, but dont like banks in general) - so I took that check to Wachovia who the state lottery uses (or did at the time?) - to see if I could get it cashed. :D it was close to closing time and I was told they didn't have any hundreds- I walked out with a small brown bag of $15,000 in $20 bills. lmao. I was soooo nervous carrying that much around just to get home. I immediately paid off my car with $12,000 of it- moved on a couple thousand (buy kitchen items, initial renters deposit ect) and partied/splurged on $1,000 of it. Good times.

$15000 isn't that many hundreds, even for a branch. They should have had 'em. I don't doubt you, I've been told the same thing. Good story.

I hit a large Jackpot at a casino years ago. I put the most of the money In a casino box for the night, while we went out to celebrate or something. I ended up getting arrested for something stupid, NO not drinking and driving.

While waiting to get booked there was a problem, because I still had a decent amount of cash on me. Everyone behind me waiting to get booked took notice. After being booked I went into a holding tank with over 20 guys. Soon after there was a brutal beating over a spot on the bench(Victim= a young rocker white boy, who mouthed off ), Very scary. 95% of the guys were black and some of them were very big thug like guys.

The police took a few guys out and asked who did it. I was one of them, I said i dint see anything.

I was taken back to the holding tank. After the everything calmed down. One guy said, well at least the white boy didn't rat, referring to me.

A few of the guys who took notice of the cash I was holding, while being booked, started talking to me, asking questions regarding the cash, I was dressed nice at the time I was being booked, so they started asking if I was a Rich lawyer, inside trader and all kinds of speculation.

I was out within 24 hrs and charges were dropped.

A few days later I went back to the casino with a friend. We went to the cage to pick up my winnings in the safe deposit box. After getting the cash, I turn around and one of the bigger guys, who was in the holding tank with me asking me questions, was standing there in line and noticed me. My Heart dropped and I was freaked out, all kinds of things were running through my head. It was just pure coincidences.

Nothing came of it, I don't even think he noticed I was picking up money. We made small talk and I excused myself, I hung around the casino for an hr or so before I left.

I was lucky enough about three years ago to also win $10,000. My other two kids and wife all say its their turn now.

Here in Georgia they kept 25% for Fed and 6% for State so I got a check for $6900.

My son works 6AM to 6PM but is off tomorrow. He plans on being there when they open the door and then go to his bank and pay off his truck.

My dad won $15G's on a scratch-off must be 30 yrs. ago. Bough Mom a brand new station wagon, all the bells and whistles. Towing package, too. They went camping alot... by themselves, of course. No need to drag along the kiddies. ;o)

Back in the late 70's NYState had a "big" jackpot of $30Million, I was in college near the border, and invested in a print-out of the rotations and their most frequently drawn numbers. I played 60 ways at a buck a pop based on the 18 most popular. That drawing netted me about 4G's. Bought the College GF a used '75 VW Bug (Yellow I think). I know she still had it '87 when I saw her at her brother's (untimely) funeral. Still looked good and ran w/o smoke. (The car and her)

As far as my scratchers go a couple of times over the years $400. Nothing big.
Some people need to reimagine their thinking.
