The Las Vegas Strip reported net income of over $150 million, a decrease of 81.2% from fiscal year 2024.
Las Vegas Strip net income drops
The Las Vegas Strip reported net income of $154,188,391, a decrease of 81.2% from fiscal year 2024. Total revenue on the Strip was $21,077,838,684, down 3.7%, while gaming revenue was $5,509,848,670, also down 3.7%.
Downtown Las Vegas casinos generated net income of $159,192,147, a decrease of 20.2% from fiscal year 2024. Total revenue was $1,621,861,159, up 0.7%, and gaming revenue was $812,244,965, up 1.8%.
Laughlin casinos reported a net loss of $54,787,028, a decrease of 758.6% from fiscal year 2024.
Your numbers are very different. I'm not sure a business can survive a 758% drop in revenue.
They really no longer want middle America as customers. Conventions and high-end Asians are the new demo.
I am figuring within 20 years prostitution gets legalized changing things even more.

I know what you mean, but convention attendees typically are middle America. The C-suite guys don't bother going to them and standing around all day, and the low level guys don't get to go. In my experience (very high tech) it's usually the educated, middle-ranked guys in a company who won't sound like idiots talking to customers that get convention duty, along with a few younger females who are brought along for predictable reasons. Maybe the kinds of conventions that come to Vegas are different.
The feeling I get walking around the Strip is that Southern California thug is the demo they're looking for. The food would cause a riot in prison, the drinks might have some alcohol in them if you add yeast and let all that corn syrup ferment for a while, and the entertainment is some guy squawking into a microphone, bunch of words I don't say.
Legalizing prostitution might be an improvement, but not if they use the brothel model that already exists in Nevada. Expensive, overregulated, controlled by a small number of people. Instead they should use the solo practitioner model, where any girl can work if she gets checked out and gets an ID card (over 18, without VD or any serious crimes, and is really a girl- too many troons walking around out there and that turns normal guys off). Then she can't have a pimp and she can't solicit in an offensive way- just private one-on-one transaction between consenting adults. I think that would be very effective in keeping bad actors out of the biz because if a girl doesn't have her hooker ID guys are going to read between the lines and know that there's something really bad about her and she might not even be a she.

But the point is hundreds to thousands come at once. Sometimes all the rooms booked at once. And they probably make the money off them from hall rental and food.

They have the registration and licensing for the brothels already so just expand on it. Casinos could have designated areas and designated nogo areas. I think the girls would prefer that as if nobody is allowed in the nogo then no advantage lost. Customers would like it because they would not be hassled or/and mistaken for a working girl.
They could easily be required to wear a license same as casino workers and the casinos could either hire them direct or work out a deal, even charging rent same as a strip club does.
Given the direction other things have taken I see it and I see it not happening then happening all at once.

If Fertitta ends up buying Caesar's there is a chance things may improve. We should have a good idea if it will happen in a couple of weeks.

If we ever want to see Vegas the way it used to be or could and should be, they are going to have to do something about labor. Most of the people around town, the only thing harder than training them to do a job is firing from the job they can't or won't do. And unless they are willing to live in straight up Third World conditions there is no place entry level workers can afford to live if they come here to work.
They might want to consider buying a cheap hotel someplace around the Strip, letting new employees live there for $100 a week out of their paychecks and they could probably get some good and ambitious people from other parts of the country that way.

An ID badge... What, like a scarlet letter?
I think it would be more likely that outcall services can become licensed and approved than indepent workers get legalized. I don't think anyone wants turf wars, most of the clients certainly don't want trickrolls, and I can't see a casino wanting solicitation on property. Having a fixed office means records can be inspected, which seems to be very important to regulators.

It might seem like that would be cleaner, but let's not mince words: an outcall service is a pimp. And in practice most of the problems, starting with trafficking and nonconsensuality and unlawful restraint, then continuing to robbing hobbyists, drugging hobbyists, badger game in whatever form, involve a pimp or somebody other than the prostitute herself making money in her business. I think having any kind of supervisors controlling what the girls do would make it worse. I've known girls in this business (not professionally! Well OK, there was that one time at band camp...), the job is dangerous enough, and the last thing a lady with an apartment who provides on her own wants is to make enemies, make strange guys angry with her when she's alone in a room with them, or do things where she has to hide from the cops. This would be even more so if she had a license that she would lose for bad behavior.
