I will miss those juicy hot dogs, the Bloody Mary breakfasts, and — most of all — the Awful Awful Burgers and fries.
Also, I recall it was the last place I'd seen to have a bank of electromechanical slot machines (in the back, along with a few other coin-operated amusements).

It's like the Gold 'N Silver Inn, but more like a lunch counter than a diner.
Quote: WizardSorry to hear that. One of the few places in downtown Reno you could count on to get a cheap quick and filling meal. As I recall, my last visit I got a breakfast burrito there and it was gigantic. Something TomP would find a challenge.
Try the terminator Burger at the Western Village Coffee Shop in Sparks. They give you a certificate if you finish it off, or at least they use too. Huge burger for around $12. Most of the items on the menu is very good too, with generous portions at a reasonable price. Unfortunately, because of Covid, their counter tops are temporarily closed which was great for single diners such as myself because there Was always no waiting for those spots. Excellent banana splits too!

Western Villiage has been a hidden gem of a locals place for many years. Good dining, good prices, and good video poker.

Thanks for the suggestion! I’ve been wanting to visit Western Village in general. Part of my “dive/historic” casino tour of Reno.
The aspect of the Awful Awful Burger that I liked was that it was a delicious burger and much bigger than a common burger —so I felt like I was being decadent — but not so big that I couldn’t finish it.
I probably would not be interested in a $12 burger because at some point I would no longer want any more. And it wouldn’t be good leftovers like pizza or a stew.
But I’ll check out their other diner fare!
