I'm planning on writing a full review / trip report when I get home.
When are you going?
Quote: Mikey75Has anyone played at Colorado Belle in Laughlin? Thinking about staying in Laughlin for one night when I make the trip to Vegas and this place is a la reasonable as it gets. Reviews seem pretty good, for the price anyway, I was just wondering if anybody here had been there.
It's cheap because it's the worst facilities in Laughlin. Flies all over the place on the back outside wall and walk way last time I was there. Not like 5 or 10. Like 1,000.
Stay at almost anywhere else.

Quote: DJTeddyBearI'm heading to Vegas and staying in Laughlin for two nights, 11/11 and 11/12. I booked Harrahs Laughlin thru Total Rewards. The room is free, but $27 total fees and taxes for both nights. Compared to the Strip at ~$150 just for Saturday, and it was a no-brainer.

When are you going?
I'm going in Feb. We where planning on spending a few days in Vegas and taking a bus tour to the Grand Canyon. I've scored a much cheaper flight but the days are restricted so we have to fly in on a Wenesday and out on a Wenesday. We originally planned on 5 nights just in Vegas. Now that we have a extra two the wife wants to rent a car and drive to the Grand Canyon. She want to ride through Route 66 and stop at some of the attractions on the way. We get into Vegas at 6 P.M. I've wanted to see Laughlin so my plan is to drive to Laughlin that evening and spend the night in a cheap room and get up the next morning and drive Route 66 in the daylight. I don't really have plans for Thursday night but I figured we would stay somewhere along the way. The rental will need to be returned by 6 Friday so we will be back in Vegas to stay Friday through Wenesday.
I knew I could count on you guys to shed some light on the place. I know it's a older place and that doesn't bother me but I would like to stay somewhere that is clean.
Harrah's, Pioneer, Edgewater, Avi, and Tropicana are all under $30 a night. My wife likes the river boat theme that's why I specifically asked about the Colorado Belle. Thanks for all the replies!!
Of the places I've stayed, I'd rate them- Harrahs, Trop, Edgewater, Riverside. With the first two far superior to the last two.
They seemed old 20 years ago. Edgewater and the Bell are about the same. Pioneer might actually be worst. Trop is slightly better than those 3 places. I don't recall ever staying at the Avi. Riverside had bad lice problems at one time(it never affected me, but I know others that were). It has been a long time since I stayed at Harrah's, but I assume that is your best bet.Quote: Mikey75I'm going in Feb. HopefullyThe Riverside doesn't have any more pest problems. I liked that place the best because they had the most to offer as far as things to do. I don't know what they offer now, but back in the day, they offered Bowling, pool tables, movie theater, car show, arcade, some shopping, beauty shop/ barber, food court, a few good restaurants, good snack bar, club, poker room, they even had a small post office.

Thanks for all the information!! I know it's not that far from Vegas I just figured we would spend our first night in Laughlin. Kinda rethinking after all the post.
Is there another casino out of Vegas headed toward the Grand Canyon anyone would recommend? I'm wide open to suggestions. I will probably stay at a hotel Thursday night and I could Wenesday night as well but just getting in I'd like to play a little Wenesday night. Thanks again for all the suggestions.
Quote: rdw4potusI bet rooms at Avi are nice. But that casino is pretty far out of town (on reservation property). I've stayed at Harrah's several times. I didn't think it was too bad. it's a Harrah's, so there's no real theme. But, it was clean and comfortable and cheap. Just watch out - when you say it's less than $30, does that include the resort fee?
As far as I can tell only Harrahs has a resort fee of those that I have named. Harrahs resort fee would put them over $30 a night. What about golden nugget? Is it a decent place?
Quote: vegasI stayed at the Nugget a couple weeks ago. It was fine and I would stay there again.
Thanks!! That may be the route I go.

Avi was okay. They have the A/C units in the window that make a racket, and the view out of my window was three feet of grass, then the wall of another building, but clean and cheap. Note that Avi is a tribal joint in Nevada, they are 10 miles from the main drag in Laughlin, so if you want to casino hop (or water taxi), you will need to drive at least 15 minutes into Laughlin proper.
Maybe I should clarify the rate I got at Harrahs, booked on 7/12.Quote: rdw4potus... Just watch out - when you say it's less than $30, does that include the resort fee?
Sat & Sun, 11/11, 11/12;
Both nights free, plus:
$12.00/night restore fee.
$1.50/night tax.
$27.00 total all in.
Almost anyone can get Platinum status by applying for a credit card.
The Golden Nugget in LV doesn't have a resort fee either. Except they do. They just call it something else.Quote: Mikey75... I don't think the Golden Nugget charges a resort fee. If it does it isn't listed.
Buyer beware....
Quote: billryanThe water taxi is 1) expensive and 2) unreliable. Because Laughlin is so close to Davis Dam, the water level and speed of the river vary during the day. Some hotels can only be accessed when the water conditions are right. For a few dollars more, a 60-90 minute cruise on a riverboat is a much better deal.
Thanks I will check into that.

I thought about calling them and asking but if there trying to hide it that probably wouldn't work. I hate resort fees!!
Well at least they don't have a resort fee.Quote: DJTeddyBearThe Golden Nugget in LV doesn't have a resort fee either. Except they do. They just call it something else.

This is correct. Stay at harrahs, it’s a very good value if you have a total rewards card.
Belle is fun to gamble at, and pints is a nice place to eat.
I believe that hotel websites must disclose any non-negotiable fees in addition to the rate. Some do this on the front side, but on other websites, you don't see the fees until further along the reservation process, usually the screen where they ask for your CC info.Quote: Mikey75I thought about calling them and asking but if there trying to hide it that probably wouldn't work. On the TR site, if you click the View Total link on the availability page, it will show you the fees & taxes. I just looked at the GN website and under Reservation Details, it showed a resort fee when I tried to book Vegas (Holy crap -- $29.50 plus tax!), but not for Laughlin.
Quote: Mikey75I do have a total rewards card but I barely gamble at TR places. I'm sure my TR card is currently showing 0 points. TBH I've been in several Harrahs casinos and I haven't liked any of them. Harrahs does seem like the best bang for the buck so I may end up staying there.
Harrah has a private beach, decent rooms and a variety of places to eat. It also offers free valet or self parking. The biggest drawback is it is isolated. If you have a car, that's not an issue as every casino offers free parking.

I've never been to Laughlin so I have no idea how it's laid out. I'd take a lesser room within walking distance of other places before going with something out of the way. I didn't realize Harrahs was away from the other casinos. Thanks for that information.
All the casinos but two are in the first six inches, most between the 2-4 inch mark .All are on the River except The Trop, which is across the street. You have a small casino at the eight inch mark, and Harrahs at the 12 inch mark. Avi would be about five feet from Harrahs.
Quote: billryanImagine Laughlin as a 12 inch ruler. Those 12 inches represent just over a mile.

After you posted about Harrahs I looked it up on my map app. I can see exactly what you are saying. That puts it all in perspective. Thanks for all of your great information!!

Thanks for the link DJ. I missed that article. Very informative. Thanks Wizard for writing it. I know Wizard updated the article to say that the Tropicana no longer offers SD BJ. Do the other casinos he mentioned still offer SD? Sounds like as good of a reason to visit Laughlin as any to me!!

Thanks for that link to. I did read that when you posted but going back over it there are a couple of things that I think I would enjoy. We are going to check out Oatman probably Friday on our way back to Vegas. We want to take RT 66 north of 40. I think it will be a enjoyable ride. I look forward to hearing your report of the place after you visit!!

Yeah but you are used to dumpy motels! 😁

You've stayed at Colorado Belle?
On a side note I'm seriously rethinking my entire trip after realizing how much there is to see along Route 66. While I would be fine sitting in a casino the entire 7 days, my wife insist that she wants to do more than gamble. She is going to want to stop at every hole in the wall along 66 lol. I'm not sure I can make it down 66 to the Grand Canyon and back to Vegas in two days. The thing I'm not really sure of is how long we will want to stay at the Grand Canyon. I'm certain it will take us most of the day to get to the Grand Canyon. I'm going to keep looking and try to decide what to do. I'm fairly certain we will stay in Laughlin Wenesday night and I want to be back in Vegas Friday night if at all possible.
Think about renting an RV and camping out there along 66. It's one of my spots to camp. There is a back road, [gravel] between Oatman and Lauglin where several miners have claims and working mines. Don't tresspass. But near Oatman there are many abandoned mines that you can hike to and check out and the old hilead tramline. Careful some are really deep, and some snakes probably aren't hibernating. Awesome sunrises from that backroad.Quote: Mikey75You've stayed at Colorado Belle?

I don't think I'll try to RV this time but I'm sure that would be awesome. I wouldn't mind a little roadside motel in one of the small towns though.
